Hello! I come from California and I moved to France in 2016 to become an English assistant at the secondary/high school level. Before that, I graduated with a double major in History and in Linguistics from UC Santa Cruz. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in International Relations with a focus on Border Studies at Sciences Po Strasbourg. I love to cook and read novels in my spare time!

Linguistic qualifications: My Linguistics degree has helped me understand the structure of languages as I was able to take courses on syntax, phonology, and auditory and articulative phonetics. With this background, I have a greater knowledge of how to correct errors made by non-native speakers.
Experience in education: I was an English teaching assistant for two years, and also gave private lessons for adults. This summer, I taught French lessons as part of my internship at CASAS, an organization in Strasbourg that provides administrative and cultural aid to asylum seekers.

I am a student at Centrale Paris, one of the best engineering schools in France, and I am looking to give lessons in Math, Physics and English in Strasbourg in person (and elsewhere in distance) to students in college and high school, or even Post -bac.

Hello, I am Josh from Australia and I currently live in France.
I am an English teacher and tutor.

My approach to teaching is based mostly on the Communicative Method. Everything we do - reading, writing, listening, grammar has an end goal of serving a communicative purpose.
I do not lecture, and I try to keep my talking to a minimum. It is about You, and you should be talking the most.
I like to elicit and get a lot of information from my students', that helps in building their confidence in the language and reducing my teacher talk time.
And finally, my approach is FUN. We need to enjoy what we are doing. I create lessons that are engaging, motivating and interesting. We need to have a laugh and not take things too seriously. Language is play and play is fun, if it's not then we will get bored.

I have been teaching English for over 8 years now in a few different countries. I love teaching English and getting the most out of my students. I take a great interested in supporting you in your language journey and success.

Conjugation is an essential point in English. This course aims to help the student to formulate verbal sentences in English while respecting the conjugation. We will train on different exercises seen in class but not understood. I will help the student to understand his English homework and to review the notions not acquired during his English assessments.
We will see together the irregular verbs as well as the grammar.

First of all, you should know that my main role is to follow the student throughout his learning of the language.

Consequently, an assessment will first be carried out in order to establish the objectives to be achieved.
Then, secondly, the implementation of personalized courses in order to best help the student in their learning.

Each lesson lasts 1h30, it is divided into 3 parts:

The first being vocabulary/grammar, in the form of cards, images, videos or sounds, students will learn the vocabulary useful for their projects or their school curriculum.

The second being oral/written comprehension, the vocabulary learned, as well as the student's knowledge will be tested during comprehension.
This part aims to assimilate the vocabulary, refine the ear and discover words and accents.

Finally the third part is led by the student, the latter must talk about a current subject (Sport, politics, video games, science, series...) which is close to their heart.
This part aims to let the student express himself and create an exchange, in order to improve the accent and acquire fluency in speaking, through different scenarios.

But this part has an additional objective, the subject of the "oral/written comprehension" part of the following course will be that chosen by the student.
This method aims to give the student additional interest and involvement in the lessons.
