Academic English and Study Skills for international students
From 67.17 C$ /h
English is the common language of international academia. For current or aspiring international students, being able to understand and use Academic English is an essential skill. Mastering this specific type of English would not only make your student experience a lot smoother, but it would also allow you to focus more on your main subject and increase your chances of obtaining your desired grades. Learning about university-level study skills and discussing the challenges of studying an English-language course abroad could be instrumental to your success as an international student.
In my lessons, you will learn how to communicate with lecturers and fellow students; how to structure essays/dissertations; practise academic reading and note taking; grow your general academic vocabulary; become more confident in creating and giving presentations in English; learn how to participate in seminars and group projects; learn about different teaching styles and certain expectations some universities may have of students and much more.

About Me
Hi there!
My name is Petra and I'm an English for Academic Purposes teacher. I've lived in Scotland for over 12 years - dividing my time here between the Highlands and Glasgow. Since I completed my entire higher education in Scotland (from college to Postgraduate studies), I have first-hand experinece of studying at British universities as well as a deep understanding of how higher education works in the UK.
As a language educator, I draw heavily on the skills and knowledge I gained during my master's degree in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) to ensure that I provide high-quality services to my students. I am also double TEFL certified (General English and Academic English). As a teacher, I always aim to create a safe learning environment for my students, where they feel supported and encouraged along their learning journey.
As an individual, I am deeply passionate about learning languages and exploring different cultures. I'm multilingual and a huge believer of lifelong learning. Besides fluent English and Hungarian, I also speak intermediate Swedish. Other things that bring me joy besides learning and teaching languages include travelling, cooking, taking care of my dog and going to the cinema.
I am very happy to answer any questions you may have so please feel free to contact me. I hope to hear from you!
