Chinese, French & Italian Lessons with a PhD Linguist
From 120 C$ /h
I am a multilingual linguist specializing in comparative linguistics, second language acquisition, and language teaching. For more than 15 years, I have taught Chinese, French and Italian to students of different ages, proficiency levels, and linguistic/cultural backgrounds through both private lessons and university courses.
I hold a binational PhD in Linguistics and Language Teaching from Sapienza University of Rome and INALCO (Paris). Throughout my career, I have taught and conducted research in Italy, France, and China. I have published extensively on linguistics and language acquisition, serve as Managing Editor of an international academic journal, and regularly collaborate with universities and research institutions in Europe and China.
Whether your goal is to prepare for an exam, improve your speaking skills, learn a language for work, or simply discover a new culture, I will tailor each course to your needs and objectives. Lessons may include conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, and listening comprehension, depending on your goals. I use a wide range of materials and place particular emphasis on developing practical communication skills while helping students understand the underlying structure of the language.
My research focuses on how languages are learned and acquired. This enables me to identify the specific challenges faced by each learner and to adapt my teaching methods accordingly, making the learning process more effective and engaging.
As language and culture are inseparable, learning a language means not only acquiring new linguistic skills, but also gaining insight into the cultural and social contexts in which it is spoken. I aim to help students build both linguistic confidence and a deeper understanding of the language they are learning.
