Debating is an incredibly useful skill, applicable to many situations.
In debate, you may be arguing whether parents should have access to surveillance cameras at schools—or whether women make better superheroes. Debate is your chance to apply your English skills to make the most persuasive case you can. In this course, you will not only learn speaking techniques such as intonation and ways to have a more cohesive argument, but you will also be able to conduct a clear presence, organise your speech and have better rhetoric e.g. metaphors, inversions and groups of three.
I have won multiple awards in the World Scholar’s Cup format, such as the 77th top debater and the top scholar overall in my individual country in the Tournament of Champions, which was hosted at Yale University.
