About Me
Since the age of 3 Emily has had a keen passion for dance and movement. She attended numerous Performing Arts Schools where she undertook British Theatre Dance Association examinations in Tap, Ballet, Modern, Acrobatics and Jazz. Emily both competed and performed on stage from a young age.
When attending Bishop Walsh Catholic Secondary School Emily went on to study Contemporary Dance at both GCSE and A-Level where she achieved A*. As a result Emily was encouraged to take peruse her dance studies further, she studied a 3 year degree in Dance at DeMontfort University.
After leaving University Emily went on to teach all different styles of dance to children of all ages in Schools within Birmingham, this allowed her to gain further knowledge and experience about the structure of Physical Education lessons and how important it was for Children to have the time and space to express themselves creatively. After a year and half of teaching in Schools Emily became interested in how an individual's wellbeing could be impacted by movement, both physically and psychologically.
This Interest lead her to begin a 2 year Masters course in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at the
University of Derby. During this time Emily developed a fascination in working alongside individuals with additional needs, she understood that Dance and Movement was another language in its own right. With this in mind Emily began to research further into this notion, she sought placements in a Special Needs School, Elderly Care Home and early years Dance classes. Emily is a registered Dance Therapist with ADMP.
In early 2018 Emily founded Dance4U, offering children and adults with and without additional needs Dance lessons and Dance therapy sessions across the globe.
