Their fluency in reading with be supported, if these needs to be at the beginning levels of Phonics or the encouragement of reading for meaning and with expression. This will focus on their structuring of answers, which would include answers linked to retrieval, inference, summarising and prediction.

The reading involved will be a mixture of fiction and non-fiction texts to enable variety and allow for the full range of skills to be practiced and developed.
