▸ Who I Work With?

This course is designed for forward-thinking parents who want more than just language drills for their children. It's ideal for:

- Teens and young learners (10-18 years old) who are curious about Chinese language and culture — from complete beginners to those with some basic foundation

- Teens (13-18 years old) who already have some basic Chinese foundation and are ready to go beyond the textbook
Curious young minds who are interested in design, technology, business, or world cultures

- Families planning for the future — parents who believe that understanding China will give their children a global advantage

- Self-motivated learners who want to explore Chinese culture, modern trends, and creative thinking, not just memorize vocabulary

If your child needs a strict, traditional tutor for exam preparation only, I might not be the right fit. But if you want them to be inspired, to think differently, and to see Chinese as a window to a bigger world — let's talk.

──────────────────

▸What You Can Expect?

Every lesson is built around sparking curiosity and building real-world skills:

- Cultural Storytelling — Instead of boring dialogues, I use stories from my work as a designer and filmmaker to bring Chinese culture to life. Your child will explore Chinese art, history, internet culture, and modern trends.

- Project-Based Learning — We'll work on mini-projects that match your child's interests. Whether it's designing a Chinese social media post, creating a short video script, or exploring a Chinese city through research, they'll learn by doing.

- Critical Thinking in Chinese — I encourage students to ask questions, share opinions, and make connections between Chinese culture and their own world. This isn't about repeating after me — it's about thinking in Chinese.

- Flexible & Pressure-Free — No harsh drills, no rote memorization. I create a relaxed, encouraging space where your child feels safe to make mistakes and grow.

- HSK/YCT Preparation Support — For students interested in Chinese proficiency tests, I weave HSK/YCT content into our cultural exploration, building exam confidence alongside genuine curiosity.

──────────────────

▸Teaching Style

As someone who's worked in creative industries for years, I know that the best learning happens when you're genuinely interested. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and conversational.

I don't talk down to young learners — I talk with them. I listen to their ideas, ask questions that make them think, and help them discover their own voice in Chinese. Parents often tell me that their children look forward to my lessons not because they "have to", but because they're genuinely curious about what we'll explore next.
Extra information
▸ Before Your First Lesson

In our first lesson, I'll take time to understand your child's current Chinese level, learning style, and personal interests. This allows me to create a learning journey that feels exciting and personal, not like a chore.

──────────────────

▸ Teaching Materials I May Use

Depending on the student's age and level, I may draw from these textbooks as a foundation:

Easy Steps to Chinese for Teenagers
Happy Chinese (Kuai Le Chinese)
Chinese Paradise
My First Chinese Reader

──────────────────

▸ More Than Just a Textbook

Textbooks provide structure, but they're just the starting point. As a designer and documentary filmmaker, I bring lessons to life with materials I create or curate myself:

- Videos — clips from my own documentary work, Chinese animations, and real social media content that teenagers actually find interesting
- Images — custom-designed visual aids, infographics, and cultural photos that make abstract concepts easy to grasp
- Audio — Chinese songs, podcasts, and real-life dialogues to train listening skills naturally
- Games — interactive quizzes, storytelling games, and creative challenges that make learning feel like play

My goal is not just to teach your child Chinese. It's to spark genuine curiosity about the language and the world it opens up.

About Me
Hi, I'm Yuan. I'm a Chinese teacher, content creator, designer, and entrepreneur based in Jiangsu, China. I used to run my own design company, and now I'm building a cultural and creative brand alongside filming a documentary series on China's cultural landscape — everything from music copyright to visual products, led by me.

As a business owner, I've personally handled the entire bidding process for state-owned enterprise projects — from reading tender documents and writing proposals, to negotiating and closing the deal. As a designer, my work has been featured on CCTV, and emoji packs I created have been downloaded millions of times on a major social platform in China. My clients span a wide range of fields — from hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses to state-owned enterprises, from intangible cultural heritage inheritors to internet influencers.

Beyond creative and business work, I'm deeply passionate about learning across disciplines — philosophy, psychology, sociology, economics, politics, literature, art. This is why, instead of traditional Chinese teaching or shallow conversation, I specialize in weaving cross-disciplinary knowledge into our lessons. I use high-quality topics to spark your desire to express yourself, and I encourage critical thinking in a fully accepting, non-judgmental atmosphere — so you grow as a person while naturally improving your Chinese.

My goal is to make the language learning process itself a source of nourishment and growth.

In this lesson,I will show you the real China, the one I've explored through my camera lens and my own travels. From reading airport signs to ordering food like a local, I'll make sure you're ready for every step of your journey.

▸Who I Work With?
- First-time visitors to China: Feeling excited but a little anxious about the language barrier? This course is built for you. I'll walk you through everything you need before you even pack your bags.

- Independent travelers: You don't want a tour guide. You want to explore on your own. I'll teach you how to navigate cities, use local apps, and handle real-life situations with confidence.

- Culture lovers: You've seen the videos. You've heard the stories. Now you want to experience the real China for yourself. I'll help you go beyond the tourist trail.

- Short-term visitors and exchange students: Landing in China soon and need to hit the ground running? We'll cover everything from setting up payment apps to ordering your first meal.

- Anyone who's ever thought "I wish I could speak a little Chinese": It's never too late to start. I'll make it practical, fun, and immediately useful.

If you're looking for a traditional, grammar-heavy Chinese course, this isn't it. But if you want to arrive in China feeling prepared, confident, and ready to explore, let's get started.

──────────────────

▸What You Can Expect?

Every lesson is built around real travel scenarios. No boring drills, no abstract grammar. Just the Chinese you'll actually use. The course is divided into three practical phases:

Phase 1: Before You Go (Pre-Trip Essentials)

- Understanding visa requirements and the latest entry procedures
- Setting up essential apps: WeChat, Alipay, ride-hailing, and navigation tools
- Learning the basics of mobile payment and getting connected (eSIM, local SIM)
- Cultural do's and don'ts to avoid common mistakes

Phase 2: Hit the Ground (Survival Skills)

- Airport navigation: reading arrival signs, customs, baggage claim
- Getting to your hotel: taking a taxi, using ride-hailing apps, giving directions
- Hotel check-in: asking about Wi-Fi, breakfast times, luggage storage
- Eating out: reading menus, ordering food, understanding prices, paying the bill
- City transport: buying subway tickets, reading metro maps, taking high-speed trains

Phase 3: Go Deeper (Beyond Survival)

- Visiting tourist sites: booking tickets online, reading attraction guides
- Shopping and bargaining: asking prices, negotiating at markets
- Local experiences: understanding tea house menus, theater schedules, local customs
- Making connections: simple conversations to connect with locals
- Each lesson is a complete "mission." By the end, you'll have a personalized travel toolkit ready for your trip.

──────────────────

▸Teaching Style

I believe learning should feel like an adventure, not a chore. My teaching style is practical, patient, and highly interactive.

As a documentary filmmaker and designer, I use real photos, videos, and maps from my own travels across China. You'll see the actual signs you'll encounter, the real menus you'll read, and the streets you might walk down. No fake textbook scenarios.

I won't overwhelm you with grammar rules. Instead, I'll give you the exact phrases and cultural insights you need, and help you practice them in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Mistakes are welcome. That's how you learn.

──────────────────

▸Teaching Materials & Resources

I don't rely on a single textbook. Instead, I create custom learning materials based on your specific itinerary and interests:

- Real-world visuals: Travel photos, and authentic images of Chinese signs, menus, and tickets
- Interactive simulations: We'll use live apps like maps, ride-hailing, and ordering platforms together during class
- Personalized survival kit: I'll build a custom phrasebook and vocabulary list for your trip, tailored to your destinations
- Practical worksheets: Airport flowcharts, hotel check-in scripts, restaurant ordering templates, and more

──────────────────

▸A Note on Textbooks
A good textbook gives us structure, so I may use materials from Discover China, Short-term Spoken Chinese, or Road to Success as a foundation. But I always go beyond the textbook, bringing in real-world examples from my own experience. You'll learn the language that actually gets used, not the stuff that only exists in a classroom.

▸ Who I Work With?

My lessons are not for beginners looking to learn "ni hao" and "xie xie." They are for:

- Entrepreneurs and business owners who want to understand Chinese business culture, negotiation dynamics, and market rules

- Academics and intellectuals — including the university professors I've taught, and anyone hungry for deep intellectual dialogue

- Creative professionals who want to understand Chinese aesthetics, internet culture, and consumer sensibilities

- Deep thinkers who want to explore philosophy, social psychology, and the differences between Eastern and Western civilizations

If you need a tutor to walk you through textbook exercises, I'm probably not your person. If you need someone who has actually sat at the negotiation table, built real things, and can engage with your ideas seriously — book a lesson with me.

──────────────────

▸ Teaching Experience:

I have two years of offline Chinese teaching experience. My students have included Korean automotive designers, American software engineers, European entrepreneurs, and university professors. I adapt well to students from diverse cultural backgrounds and tailor lesson plans to your specific goals.

──────────────────

▸ What You Can Expect:

Every lesson is built around your specific goals:

- Business & Negotiation Chinese — learn to read between the lines in Chinese business communication, structure a persuasive pitch, and handle high-stakes conversations

- Project-Based Learning — bring your real project, whether it's a business plan, a brand deck, or a speech, and we'll work on it directly in Chinese

- Deep Intellectual Dialogue — explore topics like "the future relationship between humanity and AI," "the driving forces behind China's peaceful rise," or "the collision of Eastern and Western ways of thinking" — all while sharpening your advanced Chinese expression

- HSK Exam Preparation (Optional) — If you're working toward an HSK certification, I can integrate exam-focused vocabulary and grammar into our business Chinese lessons, ensuring your exam preparation never feels like rote memorization.

I don't do scripted role-plays. I do real conversations about things that truly matter to you.

──────────────────

▸ Teaching Style

As a self-taught psychology enthusiast, I bring deep listening and empathy into my classroom. My teaching style is safe and fully accepting: I refrain from quick judgment, and I use questions to guide you in clarifying your thoughts and reaching the heart of a topic. What you'll gain is not just fluency, but a deeply understanding, warm conversational experience.

──────────────────

Maybe you're still hesitating about whether to learn Chinese.

Or perhaps there's a question you just can't shake —

In the age of AI, when instant translation is everywhere, why invest so much energy in learning a new language?

Here's my answer: a language is the crystallized wisdom of a civilization. It is a vital bridge to touch the thoughts and soul of another people.

When you're no longer satisfied with a surface-level understanding of Chinese, and instead choose to personally feel and experience the collision and nourishment of different ways of thinking — language learning stops being a tedious task. It becomes a journey of breaking out of fixed perceptions and realizing deeper self-awareness. In this exploration, you'll come to understand the cultural meanings and thought patterns behind the language. And in the process of understanding Chinese, you'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your own culture.

Just as AI can never replace a psychologist, capturing your non-verbal, subconscious self-expression — it can also never replace your own firsthand experience, to reap this enormous, long-term value that transcends language itself.

So, what are you waiting for? Book your first lesson now.

I truly look forward to meeting you in class. Let's work together toward your goals.

Teaching children is almost "an art" Not everyone is able to place him or herself in the mind of a child and that is just so important! I teach playfully and at the same time they learn without really realizing they are in a lesson! I do this with diverse lesson material such as pictures, video's, and we are also practicing songs together. Did I make you curious, come take a look and see if your child is liking my way of teaching! Greetings Carolina.

• What is the role of a school coach? As a professional, support young people between 12 and 25 years old, in their personal and more particularly school career, when they want to make a change.

• So, if the topics covered are orientation, motivation, self-confidence and working methods, it will be all about defining an objective and defining the steps to achieve it, based on tools and specific methods, a neutral and benevolent position and its very specific questions.

• It is therefore a question of seeing more clearly, decoding and analyzing in order to manage what is blocking, to learn to go beyond one's limits independently, by relying on internal and external resources and by determining the steps to achieve this. his rhythm.

• If the work of the coach with the parents consists in better accompanying them to understand and support their children in their generation, the work of the coach with the young person is different: By listening as well as the tools / suggestions proposed as well as the attention given to the emotions experienced, it is a question of reinforcing his motivation to get involved in his role, to develop the desired skills, in line with his professional project, through the recognition and valuation of his own talents.

Thus, it is a question of acquiring and then deploying pragmatic tools and methods in order to:
• Support young people with high potential and / or hypersensitivity
• Know yourself better (values, desires, needs, motivations, talents, etc.)
• Gain awareness and esteem
• Pass exams
• Better manage stress and emotions related to exams and gain self-confidence
• Better manage your workload, projects, time and priorities
• Prepare for exams, optimize your organization, find your creative levers
• Improve your relationship with others, your communication, team spirit
• Dare to assert oneself while respecting one's values
• Build and realize your professional project
• Overcome your difficulties, your potential and become aware of the opportunities that may be offered.
• Integrate didactic learning skills and self-knowledge, in addition to skills and coaching tools
• Support young people on different themes such as social integration, relationship with oneself and with others, the meaning of learning, organization, orientation choices, construction of a project

Statistically, the progression following these private sessions is quickly noticeable, from 2 sessions*. (*study 2022)

May 2026: In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students.

Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English.

My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual.

For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Learn Arduino, robotics and electronics one to one with a qualified electronics engineer who teaches this at university level. Complete beginners through to degree students, online worldwide or in person in Birmingham, with a free 30 minute introduction before you book anything.

I'm Ghous. I hold an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Chester, where I teach as a Visiting Lecturer on a Master's module, and I work as a freelance engineer designing circuit boards and writing embedded firmware for clients. I have taken a four layer ESP32 board from schematic to manufactured hardware, built the electrical power system for a CubeSat, and published two international conference papers on running neural networks on microcontrollers. When you ask why your sensor reads nothing or how to justify a design choice in a report, the answer comes from doing this work rather than from a tutorial.

Adults and hobbyists

If you own an Arduino kit and have stalled, or you can copy a project but cannot change it, this is the gap I close. We build what you actually want, home automation, data logging sensors, motorised builds, a device that talks to your phone, and underneath it you pick up the real skills: reading a datasheet, using a multimeter, wiring safely and debugging when nothing happens. No technical background required.

University and college students

Embedded systems, microcontrollers, robotics, control systems, circuit analysis and digital electronics. Arduino, ESP32, nRF52, PIC with MPLAB and STM32, plus Proteus, Multisim, Webots and PCB design in KiCAD. I also supervise final year and Master's projects from scoping through to the write up. I mark Level 7 work myself, so I know where reports lose marks. I teach students on UK, IB and continental European programmes and have worked with engineering students in Germany, so an unfamiliar syllabus is not a problem. Send me your course material and I will work from it.

School students, ages 9 to 18

Beginners who want to build something real, and students with coursework in Design and Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, whether on GCSE, A Level, IB or a national curriculum. Typical builds are a line following robot, an obstacle avoiding car, a live weather station or a motion triggered alarm. For lessons in Birmingham I bring all the equipment. Parents are welcome to sit in on the first session (UK DBS checked).

How lessons run

Tell me your level and what you want to build, or send your assignment brief, and I plan the session around it before we meet. I demonstrate first, then you take over while I guide, because nobody learns electronics by watching. Online students share a screen and I debug code and wiring photos live. Every session ends with something working and a clear next step, and you can message me between lessons.

Lessons run over Google Meet or Zoom, 60 or 90 minutes. I teach across GMT and Central European time with evening and weekend slots. Online students can start with any board they already own, or I will point you at one starter kit under 30 euros that covers the first several months.

Message me with your level and what you are trying to build and we will arrange the free 30 minutes.
