Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics and Python programming

I offer one-to-one Physics tuition for secondary school, A-Level, IB, AP and early university students. My approach is concept-first: we build a clear physical picture before introducing the mathematics, so students understand why an equation works rather than simply memorising it. Lessons can focus on mechanics, electricity, waves, thermal physics, astrophysics and other core topics, as well as exam preparation and problem-solving technique.
I am a former Associate Professor of Astrophysics with extensive experience teaching and supervising students at university level. I particularly enjoy helping students who are curious about physics and want to go beyond routine textbook exercises. For students interested in engineering or computing, I can also introduce simple Python modelling and real-world applications.
Lessons are adapted to the student’s level, syllabus and goals, whether that means strengthening fundamentals, preparing for an examination, or exploring physics in greater depth.

About Me
I’m a physicist and former Associate Professor of Astrophysics with many years of experience teaching, supervising and mentoring students.
My teaching style is concept-first: I focus on helping students understand the physical ideas behind the equations, then build the mathematics around that understanding. I work with secondary-school, A-Level, IB, AP and early university students, and I’m especially comfortable with mechanics, electricity, waves, astrophysics and problem-solving.
I enjoy working with curious students who want to understand why things work, not just memorise formulas. Lessons are adapted to each student’s level, syllabus and goals, whether that means exam preparation, building confidence, strengthening fundamentals or exploring physics in greater depth.
Alongside university teaching, I have been active in public science communication through school outreach, science festivals, public lectures, radio, television and podcasts, so I’m very comfortable adapting complex physics and astronomy to different ages and levels.
