Writing on Global Issues - A critical approach to global matters
From 51.49 C$ /h
This course aims to help participants on three major points that hamper them from producing quality written products: lack of adequate and advanced vocabulary, advanced ideas, and advanced grammar. This course entwines these three points with global economic, political, and environmental issues which also aim to extend students’ general knowledge about global issues, just to name a few, ethics, technology, global supply chain, global warming, food security, business, etc. The basic philosophy behind this study is to help students advance their writing skills by introducing them to new ideas, concepts, advanced grammar structures, and advanced levels of vocabulary in a meaningful context. The course takes its roots in rhetoric, the art of persuasion. The participants are encouraged to approach the issues from broader, analytical, and critical vantage points in order to write impressive pieces. Making a comprehensive analysis of the topics covered in this course is aimed primarily at the participants to reach a comprehensive and strong level of knowledge about the topics they will write about. The rationale behind the course is as follows: in order to write an advanced-level article, having advanced, in-depth, and multidimensional knowledge is imperative. For this reason, the intellectual knowledge of the participants is developed within the scope of this course.

It is an interdisciplinary course that teaches students how the strategic management methodologies applied in the processes of determining the visions of businesses, institutions, and even states and reaching that vision can be adapted to career planning and why career planning is systematic research, planning, and continuous development process.
The course aims to
• contribute to the development of continuous research and development awareness, based on the concepts of knowledge-oriented decision-making in career planning processes, increasing competitiveness, minimizing information asymmetry and missed opportunity cost,
• contribute to students' internalization of why a career is a process that should be planned, being aware of basic micro and macroeconomic conditions,
• introduce the strategic analysis methods that students can use in transforming their career planning processes into critical thinking, research, and application processes, and making them apply with exemplary studies,
• contribute to the development of market-oriented and proactive career planning awareness in students,
• ensure that students develop an interdisciplinary (marketing communication, organizational behavior, and strategic management) perspective on career planning,
• scientifically explain the importance of strong social capital (all kinds of contributions arising from the effective use of social networks) with social networking methodologies and to explain practically how social capital can be used systematically and effectively in career planning processes.
