About Me
I am a playwright and published poet with a passion to help mentor those on their creative writing journey.
I am especially keen to help those that want to either take the first steps in writing but don’t know how, or those that are struggling with their writing at whatever stage.
As a writer I have gone on a long journey from summoning up the courage for someone else to look at work and to then keeping on progressing despite setbacks and steps forward and what to do next! I know the importance of having a reliable mentor to help you reach all those stages and how important and vital it is in being able to complete work.
Lessons are structured initially depending where you are and what you want; usually it’s helpful in our first session if I can first look at your writing (if you’ve written something), and discuss your ambitions and look at issues currently holding you back; we can then plan further sessions dependent on where you want to target your help - either story progression, blocks keeping you from completing or getting down to write, how to go about getting your work visible etc. As we progress, we can look in depth at things you may want to concentrate on, if that’s obstacles to writing, wanting feedback on your work or just having agreed milestones for your work for our next session. I do feel that sessions and helping people progress are best taken forward when it’s student focused and shaped, although with steering help from me, with an aim of progression of and in your work.

Are you thinking of writing but having trouble how to start? Have you started writing but seem to have blocks that are stopping you continuing what you’ve started? Or do you feel shy about sharing your creative writing and want to take the next steps? I’ve successfully helped mentor people on their journey into creative writing and in the classes we will take the journey looking at ways to help overcome obstacles that might be stopping or blocking your progresses, or helping you to continue writing you may have started. We will do this with a mixture of looking at your work and thinking of strategies to help you overcome any potential blocks. Although I have a particular interest in writing for plays, (I am a playwright and published poet), this class is for also for those wanting write creatively.
