I am offering additional tutoring and feedback for academic/university-level writing in English. I provide tailor-made feedback and editing for academic essays, theses, motivation letters for jobs and university admissions... and more!

I am a native English speaker and recently acquired my MA* from a Dutch university, with a GPA of 8,5 and a final thesis grade of 9,0. I'm eager to help current and/or prospective students with their English-language academic writing, a skill which is crucial for success in the university environment.

I offer two types of tutoring:
1. Written feedback and editing. This is done over digital file-sharing (e.g. Google docs)
2. Editing AND personalised feedback/tutoring via video call. This is an option for those who desire more in-depth guidance for their writing: ranging from feedback on grammar and spelling, to broader advice on the structuring of papers. This is ideal for larger projects, such as a university thesis.

(*Although I broadly specialise in English-language academic writing, my own academic qualifications lie within the fields of the social sciences (political sciences/sociology) and the humanities. I am more than happy to provide additional guidance on research methods, theory, etc., for those that are following subjects in these areas and would like some extra support with their coursework.)

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.

What makes the difference: As a philosophy student, I don't just teach authors; I teach the methodology that allows students to think for themselves about major philosophical concepts.
