I approach English as an important key to modern global communications, and provide a fun and challenging environment for learning. I assign homework on request, play games, work with dictionaries and on-line information sites, and tailor lessons to student needs. Whatever your goal, join me in an exploration of English language within English culture.
Extra information
My on-line lessons need Skype software, a Skype-suitable headset with microphone (such as Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset), and fast broadband width (a fibre-optic connection would be suitable).

About Me
I love teaching English because I think communication is important for everyone. I love teaching about science because I believe it affects the whole of our 21st century society.

A major regret I had when I was traveling the world was that I could not speak directly to all the people I met because I did not know their languages. That was because sadly I find it difficult to learn other languages myself (I know a little French and Swahili) but I have always loved the subtle ways in which English adapts to places and times. I love science too because it is an international language.

I would like to invite you to come and have fun exploring communications with me.

I believe in the importance of clear communication, whether it is between people, communities or nations.

All my life I have been a professional communicator, working for example as a secondary English teacher in Africa, a journalist in the UK, a science communicator making documentaries for international agricultural research organisations across Africa and Asia, and as a radio producer for clients such as the BBC World Service.

I am now quite old (nearly 60) although I do not feel old. I am actually really excited about returning to teaching, which I love, in order to help people with communication through English. I am a qualified teacher for English as a foreign language (I have a CELTA) and although I am always strict and organised, I believe that language is fun and I love to laugh.

I look forward to meeting you for a fun and useful journey through English.

Lessons are offered for general studies students, prospective science journalists, those wanting to become radio producers, or just people wanting to know how new science might affect their lives.

Lots of us want to know the possible impacts of latest science. Science is getting more complex as the world becomes a global village. It is often political and contested.

Come and join me either to explore a topic of your suggestion, or for an overview of the newest science. This can be for students, professionals or for anyone who loves knowing things.
