I was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Spain, the Dominican Republic, and China. I’m a native speaker of Spanish and English, and I’m also proficient in Mandarin Chinese (HSK 6). In 2019, I completed my Chinese studies in Harbin, China.

My main goal is to create a supportive, engaging learning environment where you feel comfortable, motivated, and confident to use the language.

As a language teacher, I aim to teach you practical and functional Mandarin. As a culture teacher, I aim to give you a nuanced understanding of China. Besides being a teacher, I am also your coach, guiding you through the joyful and challenging moments of your journey of learning Chinese Language and Culture.

I have taught Chinese for 11 years, in Dutch middle schools. I am also teaching private lessons for adults, mostly for business purposes who have daily contact with Chinese companies and customers. Some of them are starting from 0, some of them have lived and worked in China for several years, and also students who majored in China studies, however, would like to improve their Chinese proficiency to native speaker level. I really enjoy teaching students with various backgrounds and experiences.

When princess Amalia, Princess of Orange is the heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, chose to study Chinese during her middle school, Dutch television program RTL Boulevard has interviewed me. Some units we learn are Dishes, Festivals, Chinese star signs, Hobbies and Pronunciation. Other more advanced units are Character roots, Tang poems and Traditional characters. Ms Lisa designs your handouts.

For one-on-one lessons, Ms Lisa will tailor her class to the learner's needs.
