A recognized Swiss baccalaureate grants admission to EPFL without an entrance exam. The selection process takes place later, during the preparatory year, where analysis and physics eliminate a portion of the cohort each year. This is where my primary role is.

I was an assistant at EPFL for five years in analysis, physics and structures. I led exercise sessions, corrected problems and saw where students drop out, almost always at the same point: the transition from calculation learned in high school to the reasoning required in the first year.

I cover three distinct situations.

Summer before the start of the academic year: a targeted refresher course focusing on the prerequisites of analysis and linear algebra, to arrive in September without any basic gaps.

During the first semester: weekly support on your current series and past exams, before the delay becomes insurmountable.

The entrance exam: Special mathematics courses, bridging courses, or admission without a recognized high school diploma. We work through the exam syllabus subject by subject.

We are making progress on your own course materials and your previous series, so that you can follow your own.

About Me

I teach because I was the student who followed the lesson in class and then sat stuck in front of a blank page that evening. Nobody had shown me how to actually work through mathematics.

As a teacher I present little theory and ask a lot of questions. Until you have redone the exercise on your own in front of me, I treat the chapter as unfinished. I work from your own material: your notes, your problem sets, your marked papers, rather than from a parallel syllabus.

The students I work best with are willing to go back to the start of a chapter when the foundation is missing. Their starting level matters little to me. Their willingness to open the notebook again matters a great deal.

Alongside my work as an engineer I built MatuMath, a revision app for the Swiss maturité in mathematics, downloaded by more than a hundred students across French-speaking Switzerland. RTN and Canal Alpha both ran a feature on it in September 2026. Building it forces me to take every chapter of the Romandy syllabus apart until I can explain it simply, and that shows in a lesson.

As an EPFL engineer, I spent several years providing math tutoring to high school students in the region. The same scenario kept recurring: capable students who dropped out because no one had shown them how to approach a subject that is cumulative.
A session begins by addressing the difficulties encountered in the current chapter. I revisit the theory from a different perspective, then we move on to exercises until you can complete them independently. As an exam approaches, we work directly on past exam papers.

As a civil engineer with an EPFL degree, I have been working in a design office since 2020: excavations, retaining walls, foundations, numerical modeling, and site supervision. I mentor junior engineers and interns in this role, and I write reports explaining these calculations to clients who are not engineers.

I support students from EPFL, HES and vocational schools in the branches that filter: statics, strength of materials, reinforced concrete, soil mechanics and foundations.

We work on your past exams and series. For geotechnics and foundations, I show you how these calculations are actually carried out in the office and according to which standards, which makes the material much more understandable than a formula learned by heart.
