About Me
Energetic, driven and passionate about teaching, I believe I am a dynamic teacher with a detailed understanding of pastoral care and wellbeing as well as both theoretical and practical aspects of English, and Theatre studies.
Furthering and developing student progress, academic achievement and promoting excellence are the three areas that support my desire to teach. I have demonstrated excellent practice within the classroom, through understanding the needs of my learners and how to differentiate my practice to achieve the best result.
In my time as a teacher and pastoral leader I have learnt a great deal in terms of assessment, progression and promoting motivation in learners, both through practice and daily engagement in the life of the schools I have worked in. I have come across a number of challenges in working with students, including motivation, structuring learning in the right way, providing support and behavioural management. I have been proactive in exploring and putting in place strategies to support these learners and further my understanding of meeting the needs of students with ASN needs and being able to appropriately and sensitively differentiate the learning within the classroom. I have created a number of approaches to maintain interest and enthusiasm for learning and work hard to promote the value of learning and explore how it can help to empower young learners to gain important life skills and values.
I believe I am a teacher who demonstrates enthusiasm and works hard to raise the aspirations of my students, through setting challenging and stimulating lessons which reflect the learning objectives of the education bodies I have worked with including Ofsted, SEP and COBIS. Working in school’s that have been accredited “outstanding”
As an experienced teacher, senior leader and Head of Department, I have developed many tracking documents for student’s progress both academically and behavioral and am confident at articulating where students need to go next to further their progress. I will strive to find answers in how to assist the progress of those who may not be meeting their expected targets and have developed many tools within my personality to help students, and colleagues become the best they can be.

Experience / Qualifications
By using both summative and formative assessment I provide tailored learning experiences to ensure that each learner stretches their potential. Through research and trialling I have embedded both written and verbal feedback as essential to my classroom practice. This allows every learner to understand what he or she has achieved as well as recognising their next step on their learning journey. Over the last four years all the subjects I have taught at exam level (IGCSE English, IGCSE Drama, IB Theatre and IB Literature and Performance) have had a 100% pass rate. I am also proud that I managed to see over 90% of students reach an A or A* at IGCSE and 75% of IB students achieve a level 6 or 7.
