It today's day and age, languages and communication play an essential part in our lives. They broaden ones horizons, stimulate the brain and can increase memory.
I'm a native Italian who's English mother and German father have enabled me to fluently speak Italian, German and English, accent-free. Having studied Translation Studies for my Masters In Cardiff, I have gained a strong understanding of language and culture and their relationship with each other.

In my tutoring classes, I will keep the work load light yet abundantly absorbing. Having studied languages most of my life I recognize the importance of "fun" when learning. As children have short attention spams i recognise the importance of keeping a tutoring lesson simple and to the point.
Depending on the pupil, my lessons will mostly focus on simple, every day life language, grammar, issues etc. As well as learning a new language I feel it's important that one also learns of its culture in order to gain a deeper understanding of its structure. Whilst written work will take place, I believe that at a younger age, new linguistic information is more easily digested through conversation. The lessons will entertain both written and oral work with small weekly refresher tests.

About Me
I was born in Siena (Italy) and spent 13 years surrounded by the beautiful Italian countryside before I moved with my Mother and Sister to England. There, I completed my GCSE's, A levels and then went to Cardiff University where I studied Archaeology and Ancient History for my undergrad, and Translation Studies for my Masters. I'm an stereo-typically passionate Italian who's love for history, culture and language has led me to private tutoring where I can share my understanding and knowledge with the younger generations.
Having had private tutors for most of my teenage years, I have a strong understanding of what works and what doesn't work for most people when learning a new language. Most young learners only register and remember approximately 30% of the information they hear within one hour of lesson time. Therefore I intend to keep the lesson workload lighter with slightly larger homework tasks. As much as I used to hate homework when I was learning, I believe that associating one place with "learning" isn't enough. In order to learn a language one must cut out geographical associations in order for it to then become a daily normality. I also believe that learning a new language is aided by necessity and independent learning. Therefore weekly homework tasks will positively increase ones learning speed and capability.

Languages connect us humans and make communication easier.
Be it at school, at work or when traveling, languages play an important role.
In addition, they also enable us to get to know a new perspective and culture, because we spoke to us.

Ive been working as a professional music teacher (ukulele & vocal) since 2009 working with individual clients as well as group workshops in various institutions including the EPO, Music Akademie Süd, Swing and the City, Ente 39 etc. As I grew up bilingually (English/German) I have been teaching both in English and German and hold a Cambridge Proficiency Certificate. I am also a published writer of poetry and art. Recently I have started to take on private work as a translator and am now offering English and German conversation on all sorts of topics, creative contexts and settings for all those who wish to improve their language skills.
Language is a powerful tool and can shape the way we perceive and interact with the world. I enjoy making learning a creative explorative and personal experience, which has, i believe the greatest and longest lasting impact on the student.

About Me:
My name is Bridget, and I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I currently reside in Munich working in a Kindergarten as an English Erzieherin.

As a Teacher I:
I believe that enjoying your time while learning is of vital importance. I aim to take the usual mundane lesson plan and transform it into something that is fun and intriguing. I work with you to achieve all goals that you have in mind whether that be to pass a C2 test or just feel more comfortable talking to a friend in English!

What you will receive in a lesson:
I personally design all classes for you and try to tie in things that you enjoy. I work with you on every part of the language: speaking, reading, writing, listening (unless specifically asked to omit a certain part). I explain grammar in a palatable way and use it over and over in speech, so that you will remember and be able to implement it correctly in your own speech. And I correct you in a way that doesn’t make you feel self-conscious in your speech!

I have been teaching math for about 10 years and am an engineer by qualification. I tailor the classes according to the students needs and can make it challenging or easy as required. My strengths include patience, excellent communcation skills, graphical explanation ability and the use of computer based tools to enable clear understanding of fundamental concepts. A typical class would involve teaching basic concepts, then moving on to solving a few example problems along with the student, and finally ending with the student solving a few problems on their own.
I also speak fluent German and can switch when needed

Passionate about language learning, I adapt my lessons to suit my pupils.
I am currently studying a masters in sciences of learning at Munich so learning for all ages is my passion!
Last year wihtin French primary schools, I brought an interest for the English language at the same time to pupils who remained mute and were known for being behind in class, to pupils who were constantly dissipated and highly performing native speakers.
I use both fun and academic methods to enthuse my students while developing their linguistic foundations.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

I specialise in taking your English from functional to precise, persuasive, and professional in the moments that matter to you: job interviews, academic presentations, subject-specific exams, and high-stakes conversations.

** MY APPROACH IS PERFECT FOR **
**Goal-Focused Learners** You have a clear, specific target (job interview, subject-specific exam, or social situation) and want efficient lessons built around that one goal rather than generic textbook units. I quickly diagnose your starting point and design a focused plan so every session moves you measurably closer to that outcome.

**Learners Seeking In-Depth and Nuanced Feedback** You already communicate well in English but want to refine argument, tone, and style so your rhetoric is precise and powerful. We dig into structure and word choice, and you get detailed, line-by-line feedback that turns “correct” English into compelling English.

**STEM students & corporate professionals** You work in a technical or business environment and need your English to match your expertise. Drawing on my experience in tech and corporate strategy, I help you refine the vocabulary, jargon, and communication patterns you use in reports, slide decks, emails, and meetings so you sound as confident and credible in English as you are in your field.

** TEACHING ETHOS**
I have lived and worked in 7 countries and self-taught 3 languages so I have strong sense for the situations where complete confidence in a new language is critical: being able to quickly and fluidly reply in a social setting, using the appropriate jargon to convey complex ideas in an academic settings, confidently asserting your opinions in a business meeting, navigating bureaucracies in your new home country, ensuring that job applications and interviews genuinely reflect your abilities.

I also understand the effort and opportunity cost that can go into making time to study a language and, having been on the other side of this platform looking for tutors in German, I appreciate the leap of faith when choosing a tutor. As a result I am committed to delivering you the best value for money lesson with high-impact and targeted learning strategies which set you up to continue progressing until our next session. More on our lesson structures below.

** ABOUT ME **
- I am a native English speaker from New Zealand with excellent academic writing skills and deep appreciation for the finer points of the English language. I have won several speech awards and an NZQA scholarship for Literature.
- Scored 97th percentile for Verbal Reasoning on GRE & 94th percentile for Critical Reading on SAT.
- Former executive for a fortune 500 company and worked in tech development for many years (SpaceX research grant, patent for computer vision)
- B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign
- Current graduate student in Science and Technology Studies at TUM
- Experience tutoring academic writing and physics, mentoring elite students, and coaching students in various competitive environments

** TEACHING STYLE **
- My teaching style is calm, organised and collaborative. In our first lessons I like to “diagnose” what scenarios or milestones matter to you and what is really blocking your English.
- Based on the scenarios and milestones we will work with role play those exact situations and work with real-life texts (meetings, errands, presentations, phone calls etc) so I can explain why some phrases and structures work better than others, and then we can practise them until they feel natural.
- Based on the blockers we can zoom in on the problem areas—whether they be vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar habits, or structural uncertainty—and then build a simple, efficient plan to fix it.

** LESSON STRUCTURE **
In our first lesson we will talk about your goals, current level, and one concrete situation or text that matters to you (a presentation, interview, exam, email, or everyday scenario). We will do a short diagnostic (speaking and, if useful, a short piece of writing) and then design a study plan that fits around your schedule and focuses on the skills you actually need rather than generic textbook units.
Typical lessons include a mix of:
- Roleplaying specific situations with clear feedback on pronunciation, rhythm and natural phrasing
- Discussing texts which require defending an opinion using vocab and rhetorical techniques specific to your goals
- Focused examination of problem areas to identify underlying misunderstanding or pattern
- Spaced interval repetition of mistakes from previous weeks
- If applicable: Academic or professional writing support; targeted grammar and vocabulary work; exam preparation including test strategies and timed practice using real tasks
- After each session you leave with a short, realistic practice task and clear notes, so you know exactly what to focus on before our next lesson.
