MUSICAL COMPOSITION COURSE FOR ORCHESTRA, VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS, AND SONGWRITING

From 42 C$ /h

Composition classes are designed for musicians who already have a solid understanding of note reading, rhythm, and harmony. Focused on developing your own style, we will review methodologies that facilitate composition, analyze orchestral scores and scores for other instruments, explore sources of inspiration, and discover orchestral instruments and their ranges. Using Logic Audio software, we will conduct initial experiments to grasp the concepts of timbre, space, and movement. We will first and foremost address rhythmic blocks by visualizing binary, ternary, and compound rhythms, particularly in improvisation. All attempts will be recorded on sheet music.
Children aged 14 and up are welcome if they are truly motivated and already have musical experience. Located behind the Opéra de la Comédie, accessible by tram and bus, and I do not travel to students' homes.
Extra information
Electronic piano available on site. Teenagers accepted if genuinely motivated and talented. No webcam lessons. No rap, techno, or electro music, please.

About Me
With 42 years of experience in music education, I have observed that learning rhythmic reading with visualization is ten times more effective than traditional teaching methods. I emphasize the binary, ternary, and compound rhythmic combinations that enrich the music of Bartók, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and John McLaughlin, in another exciting style reminiscent of the Mahavishnu Orchestra of 1972. Visualizing rhythmic palaces to distribute the tonal colors of various orchestral instruments based on Timbres, Space, and Movement is a fascinating exercise I dedicate 5 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Education
I took courses at the conservatories of Toulouse and Barcelona in musical analysis and counterpoint as an auditor because for me music does not need exams but many hours of work with which one always achieves a good result.

The world of rhythm and drums from around the world attracts you... you are a novice or want to improve your skills, you are looking for workshops in private lessons or in groups,...

Welcome!

Multi-percussionist on stage and in the studio, experienced teacher and performing artist for over 25 years, I offer introductory, development and advanced modules in world percussion, for all audiences.
(individual, group and internship courses)

The educational objective is based initially on the acquisition of general notions in rhythmic solfege, various instrumental techniques and a repertoire of rhythmic-melodic vocabulary, subsequently supplemented by the exploration of polyrhythm and improvisation.

By listening to and reproducing more or less long and complex rhythmic patterns and cells, it will be a question of acquiring all-terrain bases, of recognizing and refining one's own playing dynamics, of understanding the principle of orchestration and of opening oneself to the incredible experience of trance.

Percussion lessons always involve several instruments and levels:

For all levels:
congas, bongos, bata drums, cajon, bendir and tär (frame drums), djembe, dundun,
drums
and minor percussion (accessories: shaker, triangle, karkabou...

And also for novices & intermediates:
Indian tablas

Point essentially addressed for a musical and psycho-sensory immersion work:

the roles of rhythmic instruments in contemporary, ethnic and scholarly music, and the metrics of each musical current.
the strokes specific to each instrument and a playful rhythmic solfeggio (visualization, learning and interpretation of rhythmic sequences by writing and / or voicing)
the poly-rythmie around current musics and world music (African, Caribbean, Indian and oriental traditions): simultaneous combination of rhythmic cells, sometimes of different size, to form a rich, well-rounded and harmonious phrase.
groove and inner pulsation (or inner partition)
guided improvisation and discovery of one's own interpretive fiber.
orchestration or arrangement of instrument families in an orchestra.
the song and the breath, the setting in voice and in space of the rhythm, to refine the sensory language of an adequate dynamic gesture.

I provide on request personal work media (CDs, scores, videos).

Apart from stage music, I also work for live shows (storytelling, theater, circus, pantomime, contemporary dance ...), documentary film and audio-visual.

I frequently intervene in musical awakening for early and middle childhood (maternity hospitals, schools, leisure centers) and also in specialized settings (day hospitals, IME) and at home, as part of mediation actions in art. therapy.

Hoping to share with you my passion for teaching and the melody of rhythm.

For 15 years now, I have spent my time creating music on various machines (computer: LogicPro, GarageBand, Ableton / machines: Korg 1,2, Roland...).
During my journey, I had the opportunity to meet many people who helped me complete my knowledge in this field.

It is for this reason in particular that today I wish to provide help to people who wish it in this wonderful field of musical creation. This is an area where we can find ourselves isolated from the rest of the world and learning to do everything ourselves, and sometimes a little help can help us make big leaps forward!

I will try as much as possible to provide you with the maximum knowledge that I have been able to accumulate through a fun approach and allow you to become independent to complete your projects!

As a professional instrumental musician and electronic music producer, I work on Ableton Live 12 in my equipped studio and I offer to help you with the use of software and machines.
For beginners, intermediate or advanced users of all ages, the possibility of working from several angles on DAW (sound recording and mixing, getting to grips with the software, arrangement and writing, sound synthesis and synthesizers...).

I have been touring for years with my electronic music project, with live performances on which we can base our sessions to get a foothold in the live music world if you are interested.
I also studied at the conservatory, so I can help you with music theory in parallel.

The courses are structured around broad themes, before delving into specific elements necessary for understanding music production. (How to hear and shape the low end, spatialization, phase, etc.)

Feel free to write to me, the goal is to have an exchange on this, nothing is closed, and above all to have a quick result so that you can produce your sounds and move forward with your projects!

The classes are held at my home in Toulouse or remotely via Zoom.

See you soon !
