Hello, I'm Petra — a native English speaker and qualified primary teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience in British and international schools. I specialise in literacy development and English as an Additional Language (EAL), helping children build strong reading, writing, and communication skills with confidence.
I hold a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) from Kingston University and a BA (Hons) in Humanities from the University of Greenwich, and I am authorised to teach in private schools in the Canton of Vaud. Since 2007, I have worked at Haut-Lac Bilingual School in St-Légier as an EAL teacher and school Literacy Coordinator, supporting multilingual students and children with special educational needs (SEN) alongside my earlier years teaching the full English National Curriculum at primary schools in the UK.
What I love most about teaching is that shift in confidence in every lesson. My approach is patient, structured, and warm: I create a calm, encouraging environment where children feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow. Hello, I'm Petra — a native English speaker and qualified primary teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience in British and Swiss international schools. I specialise in literacy development and English as an Additional Language (EAL). I’ve been in Switzerland for over 20 years now and my husband, daughter and I love living in the mountains of Valais. - Audio-vocal language integration sessions to open the ear to the frequencies of the English language and thus improve pronunciation and comprehension.

After an internship in marketing at Nestlé Suisse SA, I start this year a Bachelor in Business Economics. I am available for private lessons in French, English, Italian, for help with homework, rehearsal, general school support.
I am patient and can organize a study plan for children with learning difficulties.

General and Business English Lessons will help to improve a students’ all round ability in English. The classes will provide a balance of practice in:

- Speaking: conversation lessons will focus on improving students’ ability to speak easily and accurately.

- Listening: students will have the opportunity to improve their listening skills by listening to various class conversations (audio from books or different materials).

- Writing and Reading: writing classes will concentrate on areas which students find most difficult at present and improve their ability in writing accurately; lessons involve a number of different topic areas to improve the reading skills

- Business English: these lessons are for students who want to improve their English to use it in a business environment. Classes focus on improving the writing, listening, and speaking skills, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation needed in a business setting.

I am more comfortable in languages such as English, German and French, I can also help other branches if necessary.

It often happens that a student does not get good grades because the teaching or working method does not suit him. By taking a support course, the student will be able to see the course material from another angle and thus create his own way of thinking in order to understand the exercises and not do them himself.
