I am a PhD graduate in chemistry with teaching experience in the UK. I provide tutoring for students preparing for exams, or for those who are simply interested to develop their scientific knowledge.

I offer highly tailored tutoring for all levels. My teaching style is to break down complex scientific concepts into simpler ideas which are supplemented with engaging resources. I have been told that my approach to teaching makes it enjoyable for my students as I am considered patient and very approachable.

About Me
My motivation to teach is to positively impact the lives of young students. This motivation
stems from my time as an A-level student where I had a teacher that inspired me to put my full energy into school which ultimately led my achieving a PhD in chemistry. I would relish the opportunity to empower students in the classroom and give them the belief to fulfil their potential.

Teaching science is exciting to me because it often involves abstract concepts that are difficult to grasp. Explaining the same concept in a variety of ways is really fun, and it is extremely fulfilling when a student understands an idea. I experienced this when I was tutoring a student who had low confidence. I was able to explain a concept in such a way that the student finally understood, and it was rewarding to see the confidence that grew during the teaching process.

My teaching persona is calm and encouraging, whilst my lessons often involve inquisitive discussions about scientific concepts and its application in the real world. It is important for me to build relationships with my students so that they feel that I am their teacher, rather than merely a provider of information.
Education
PhD in Chemistry from University College London (UK)
MSc in Drug Discovery & Development from University College London (UK)
BA in Chemistry from Whittier College (US)
Experience / Qualifications
I have experience teaching science at Ark John Keats Academy in North London: a school
that has been rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted (an independent organisation that is responsible for inspecting schools in the UK). My role includes planning delivering science lessons to students aged 11-16. My lesson plans are highly detailed ensuring that all students in my class are able to access the content. Often there is a range of abilities, and so I provide carefully planned resources to students with specific learning needs

Outside of my academic achievements, I am hugely passionate about sport. I competed at collegiate level in the US, and played soccer at a semi-professional level in the UK. I am currently a coach for a local soccer academy. I manage the under 7s team where I prepare and develop training sessions and coordinate weekly, competitive soccer matches. I have also volunteered for a charity called 'Football Beyond Borders': the charity uses football as an educational tool to engage and inspire students, and supports them to improve their attendance, attitude toward learning and literacy skills.
