After studying art for fifteen years in a Parisian workshop and starting a preparatory course in Art at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon, I offer an introduction to digital drawing techniques.

During my studio training, I experimented with numerous techniques (life drawing, still life, painting, cyanotype, engraving, pastel, charcoal, sculpture) which I now use in my digital drawings. I have been drawing on Krita for a year now, creating posters, original drawings, and animations.

Today, I offer to guide people interested in digital drawing techniques for a few hours. During this introductory session, I can adapt to each individual's preferences, whether they focus on line work, color, or composition.

My goal is to foster an interest in art and digital drawing in each and every one of my students, ensuring both enjoyable lessons and rapid progress. I look forward to seeing everyone's creations and am curious about your artistic ambitions.

My teachings

The aim of this introduction to digital drawing is to allow students to gain an initial appreciation of the techniques and potential of digital drawing. First, we will cover the basic parameters of the Krita software and install the necessary software to ensure access to its various features before exploring the artistic possibilities of this format. Throughout this introduction, my goal is also to ensure the student enjoys the process and, more generally, to encourage them to pursue their artistic interests and curiosities.

We will use various digital drawing techniques: layers, masks, brushes, colors and the color triangle, animation (for beginners), coloring, and selection and transformation tools. If desired, I can also offer tests to check that the student has understood each step; however, in all cases, developing autonomy is central to this introduction, and this is achieved without the need for tests.

Upon completion of this introductory course, students will be able to use Krita's basic tools independently, creating digital drawings and, if they wish, their first animations. They will be proficient in using the various tools covered. Results will be quickly visible, and each student will soon be able to implement their own projects, which I will be delighted to support.

I offer this introductory course on Krita, which remains particularly accessible as it is free. Therefore, the financial commitment for this course does not include the purchase of software. Should the student wish to purchase software to further develop and professionalize their skills, I can recommend software based on their specialization (video editing, animation, digital painting, etc.).

Digital drawing generally requires the purchase of a pad or tablet. For in-person classes, I provide the pad to minimize the financial commitment for what is, after all, an introductory course. This also gives students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with these tools, get comfortable with them, and make informed choices about their equipment. For online classes, however, students will need to purchase their own pad; I can then provide relevant recommendations. It is also possible to draw digitally without a pad using Krita, and although more challenging, it remains an interesting option for those who are not yet sure about continuing their digital drawing training.

Course format

Group classes for multiple students are also possible if each student has a tablet. In this case, I offer discounted rates per household to make this option attractive to everyone.

If the student makes progress on their own outside of class, it is perfectly possible for me to take up their work and questions in the following class and therefore progress at their own pace.

I offer both in-person and online classes. I have the necessary equipment to ensure successful online lessons. One of the advantages of digital drawing is that it is easy to teach remotely.

For home lessons, an additional charge may apply when travel is particularly significant or when schedules are restrictive.

After a scientific baccalaureate, I completed three years of preparatory classes (B/L) at the Lycée Janson de Sailly in Paris, before gaining admission to the ENS de Lyon through a competitive entrance exam. There, I pursued a course in social sciences, with a Master 1 in sociology followed by a Master 2 in history, completed in Japan.

Today I offer private lessons and academic support for middle and high school levels in several subjects: mathematics, French/literature, history-geography, economics and social sciences, English, German and Japanese.

My goal is not only to help the student with their homework but also to ensure a real understanding of the course, the acquisition of good working methods and a progression towards greater autonomy.

My method

My tutoring sessions are organized according to a few fundamental principles, which are then adapted to the student's needs:

- Review of the lesson with the student: regularity of learning is key to long-term mastery. Depending on the regularity of the sessions, we take time to review the lesson in order to clarify any misunderstandings and verify the acquisition of the fundamentals.

- Homework or application exercises: In the case of homework, we guide the student's thinking while ensuring they remain in control of the process. If no homework has been assigned, I provide homework or application exercises related to the lesson.

- Review of the method: once the lesson has been reviewed and the exercises completed, it is important to ensure that the method has been mastered. Depending on the level, this may involve exercises in essay writing, commentary, composition, or document analysis.

- Deepening knowledge: depending on the time remaining and the ambitions available, I propose problems of higher difficulty in order to push the student to go further.
If relevant, I can also prepare method or summary sheets with the student so that they can use them on their own as well.

I am available to give lessons in Lyon. I can also give lessons remotely – I have the necessary equipment.

The materials I offer

I therefore offer academic support for high school and middle school students in the following subjects:

Mathematics
I studied mathematics intensively during my three years of preparatory classes for the humanities (B/L), at a level of approximately eight hours per week, equivalent to that of a second-year undergraduate student. I have also previously tutored mathematics.
I primarily offer support from middle school to high school, from remedial work to advanced study.

French and letters
The B/L preparatory class allowed me to follow a particularly intensive teaching in literature, with numerous readings, text analyses and essays.
In particular, I can support students in preparing for the brevet and baccalaureate exams, in understanding texts, and in learning essay writing, commentary, and argumentation.

History geography
I studied history and geography in depth during my B/L preparatory classes, through readings, notes, timelines, essays and research projects.
I then continued my studies at the ENS in Lyon, where I completed a Master's degree in history specializing in Japan. I can therefore support students both in terms of knowledge and methodology for writing essays and analyzing documents.

SES and sociology
I studied economics and sociology during my three years of B/L preparatory classes, then continued my training in social sciences at the ENS of Lyon, where I validated a Master 1 of research in sociology.
I can support high school students in Economics and Social Sciences, particularly in understanding the concepts of the curriculum, building reasoning skills, and improving their essays and document analyses.

English
I have a C1 level in English, certified by the Cambridge C1 Advanced. I also spent a year in Japan in an international university environment, where I took courses in English and wrote my assignments in that language.
I can support students in English, both written and spoken, particularly to consolidate grammar, vocabulary and comprehension.

German
I have been studying German since middle school and have regularly stayed in Germany to improve my language skills. I currently have a C1 level and have already taught German.

Japanese
I spent a year in Japan as part of my Master 2, where I was able to deepen my Japanese through daily classes and regular practice with Japanese speakers.
I offer courses up to level B1, particularly for students wishing to discover the language, improve their speaking skills, consolidate their basics or prepare for a trip to Japan.

I am also comfortable in group settings and can accompany up to three students of the same level.
Small group classes can be particularly beneficial for classmates wishing to revise together, prepare for an exam, or work on a subject they are struggling with.

Let me introduce myself, Marylène, professional storyboarder, graduated in animation cinema.

I offer serious drawing lessons adapted to the level of the student, from the beginner to the young professional through the animation student.

During the first lesson, we will talk about the student's expectations and set the artistic objectives by defining a personalized program.
