I am a passionate chess tutor with a lifetime of playing and coaching experience, dedicated to helping students of all ages and levels improve their skills and enjoy the game.
My teaching style focuses on clear explanations, practical exercises, and game analysis. We will cover openings, middlegame planning, tactics, and endgames, while also developing critical thinking, patience, and confidence. I aim to make lessons engaging and enjoyable, so students not only improve but also develop a lasting love for chess.

I offer both in-person and online lessons, adapting to your pace and preferred learning style. My goal is simple: to help you unlock your potential on the board and think like a true chess player.

With quite a positional and methodical approach to the game I teach in a principled way. Often called ‘Russian school boy’ the style I try to emulate is that of Karpov, who frustrates his opponents with unending rigour, like a boa constrictor squeezing his opponent’s position.
