Oxbridge Entry Tutoring for English Language and Literature: Personal Statement, ELAT and Interview Prep
From 115.29 C$ /h
I am an ex-Oxbridge student (I studied at Somerville College, Oxford, 2020-2023) offering tutoring and preparation aid for anyone thinking of applying to Oxford or Cambridge. I offer help getting to grips with the ELAT paper as well as help understanding how to prepare for your Oxbridge interviews. We can even start from the beginning and work on your personal statement.
Oxbridge applications have a very specific style to them that is often quite different to the teaching of English at most secondary schools. With specialised tutoring from a successful applicant, you can feel more confident about this process! My current success rate with Oxbridge applicants is 100%, however it is important to say that entry can never be guaranteed.

For both the 11+ and 13+ exams in England, synonyms and antonyms are a key way in which your child will show their ability in the verbal reasoning paper. Following the content of Christine Draper's C.E.M. content book (in blue), I conduct a course between 5-15 sessions grouping these words into easy-to-remember themes.
You'll study word groups such as descriptors, movement, weather and more. These classes lay a particular emphasis on the practical and creative use of vocabulary because what's the point of learning words if you don't know how to use them in an interesting way!
We will practice creative writing, fun crosswords and more, as well as looking at the set question types in the 11+exams.

In these classes we will study one or more GCSE/A-Level texts in detail. Over a two-week period we will look at the themes, context, characters and criticism of a GCSE/A-Level text and work on how these parts of a piece of literature can be brought together for an examination answer.
The text(s) studied can be what you are going to be examined on, as a refresher or extra revision help. The text(s) could also be other pieces of literature on your exam board that you aren't going to study, as a way to expand your reading and become familiar with GCSE/A-level texts. Either way, we will practice thinking and writing critically so that you can blow the examiners away for your examinations.
