For example, we will talk about (and practice) how to effectively introduce, explain and defend a position as well as what to do when presented with a dissenting view. I will explain, using the exercises I designed while teaching debating internationally, what makes a strong argument, introducing you to the world of logics. I will also use my experience participating in and coaching teams for debating competitions such as the prestigious international Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot to teach you to think like a debater and to captivate the attention of judges and other listeners with impeccable advocate-like presentation manner, outperforming the opposition both on content and on style.

Hi All,

It seems that all too often teachers, especially at public schools, stick to conventional, but sadly somewhat outdated teaching methods, ignoring modern developments in foreign language and culture.

Although this sounds innocent enough, this may have serious consequences for a student. If one sincerely wants to learn a a language, they have most likely considered travelling or perhaps even moving to their target country for a while. However, upon arrival, they might find themselves extremely alienated, unable to connect fully with its residents, which is an absolute nightmare.

But not to worry - as someone who had gone through the 'transition' phase, from a 'foreigner' to a 'pal from Russia', I will strive to go beyond vocabulary exercises, grammar and boring texts, using them as a foundation to assist the student in exploring the multitude of 'faces' of a foreign language, thus ensuring your ability to make long-lasting connections with so beautifully different, yet stunnigly similar folks from other countries.

In doing so, I take students beyond ordinary textbooks and grammar books, since they are no more than guides to learning, not absolute authorities, and because to me language is a living, constantly evolving matter, which you must submerge yourself into in order to understand.

In addition to my unorthodox approach, what sets me apart is a collection of unique, language-related experiences, which translate into a good ability to understand nuances of the English language. A native Russian speaker, I have lived in the UK for over 5 years, went to a Scottish boarding school and have even completed a university degree in English. My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.
