I am Jess, a musician and producer from Ghent, graduated as a bachelor in music at PXL Hasselt. In the meantime I have been teaching guitar for 10 years at music studios and in the form of private lessons at home. Besides teaching I have my own project called Monagi and I write/produce for bands like Tout Va Bien and Patches. I also play guitar at TheShadow Machine. All my lessons take place in a relaxed atmosphere in my music studio in Ghent at your own pace. For beginners: During our guitar lesson you can bring your own songs that you want to work on or together we will see what the best songs are for you and what you can learn the most from. This ranges from the basic chords that make up most pop / rock songs to playing along with the melody or accompanying yourself while singing. So you can play what you always dreamed of in no time! For advanced users: Together we look at what you want to work on in terms of rhythm, soloing or improvisation. Which styles you are familiar with or which you would like to learn to play. These lessons are ideal for you if you want to broaden your knowledge of the guitar or if it feels like you've reached a plateau you can't get past.

Always wanted to improve in chess or win against that one friend? Then you've come to the right place! Together we will analyze where things go wrong in your games so that you will beat that one friend very quickly! ;) I completely tailor the lesson to your preferences / needs. In addition, during the first meeting I will make an assessment of where your points for improvement lie and what you already master. I teach in a narrative and humorous way so that the subject matter stays with the student. The lessons are intended for beginners or people who already know how to play chess and want to learn new concepts, strategies or tactics. I won the Belgian, Flemish and East Flemish School Chess Championship twice. Furthermore, I already have an experience of 5 years teaching both children and adults. I've always loved doing this. There is nothing more beautiful than showing people the beauty of chess. The better you get the more beautiful the game becomes as you gain more insight into it. Queen sacrifices and nice mate combinations are one of the most blissful things you can achieve in chess. I want you to experience this feeling for yourself.

The (viola da) gamba is a bowed string instrument that was popular from the mid-16th to the mid-18th century. Like the recorder, the instrument comes in a variety of sizes, from small instruments in the register of the violin to large double bass ones. The best known and most commonly used type is the bass viol. The bass viol can best be described as a cross between a cello and a guitar: the tuning and left hand technique are close to the guitar, but playing position and bowing are reminiscent of the cello. Film buffs know the instrument from the movie 'Tous les Matins du Monde' in which the gamba music of Ste. Colombe and Marin Marais is central. The instrument is also known through the passions of JS Bach, in which it plays a prominent role. But the instrument also has a rich and diverse repertoire, ranging from late renaissance to early classical and an increasing number of contemporary pieces. I studied gamba at the royal conservatory in The Hague with Wieland Kuijken. In the meantime I have about 30 years of experience in giving gamba lessons to children, young people and adults, ranging from absolute beginners to advanced players. In addition to the technique and the interpretation of the music on the instrument, I also offer support in the field of music theory and the historical context of the music. In addition to private lessons, I also teach gamba at music academy 'De Poel' in Ghent, the Municipal Conservatory of Bruges and KASK & Conservatory of Ghent.

Vectorworks is a powerful CAD program used for drawing, designing, presenting and modeling in 2D and 3D. This drawing program is easy to learn, with the tools available the possibilities are endless. The created 3D models can be used afterwards to render in the program itself, for this I have a simple template so that you can create simple renders with minimal input. Vectorworks is a slightly more advanced program compared to Sketchup but works much more accurately. In addition, it is possible to create views and sections from your 3D image with one click that are easy to edit. To ensure all this runs smoothly, we start with the basics: organizing classes. Through my work experience as an interior architect and continuous drawing in 2D and 3D, I have an extensive library that can save you a lot of drawing work. Then we work with the design layers and I learn how presentation windows work. When the basis is good, you can move on to 3D drawing. Where your models come into their own through textures.

Through these sessions I try to teach the student in question in a positive way how to study in various ways and how to encourage and motivate oneself to do so. Studying does not go without saying, but requires mental preparation and motivation, once you have mastered these two aspects, you are already much further and you are ready to master learning step by step on an independent basis, and in that process where you really 'learns to learn' I would very much like to help you with that. I myself am a law student at KULeuven, where I have to learn great suits, but by applying the right way and having the right motivation everything works. Where there's a will there is a way.

My approach is about discovering music from different angles and sensations, from listening and touching to reading and learning, which creates a good balance for an efficient and relaxed way of working. I focus on technique, musicality, analyse, but mostly I try to demonstrate how these are all bound together. I only work with scores (music sheets) which is according to me the best way to learn. I encourage classical repertoire but I’m open to anything. Every level and age is accepted, thanks for reading !
