About Me

I have been teaching French since my university days, and over the years I have learned that the best lessons start are when you talk about something that you are passionate about. My training in languages, literature and visual arts, along with my interest in how people think and learn, helps me adapt each class to the person in front of me: what motivates you, what feels difficult, and what makes you want to keep going. I love to know about my student, what they like, what are their passions, hobbies. My goal is to make the lesson enjoyable and fun while being well structured.

I am a native speaker of French who loves learning other languages and understanding other cultures. My experience in learning other languages as an adult helps me empathise with my students’ difficulties, and I find that knowledge of other languages’ structures and vocabulary allows me to better guide speakers of those languages through the differences they find with French.
I hold a Master’s degree in Romance Languages from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, with specialisation in French as a foreign language. I also benefited from the Erasmus exchange programme, living for a year in Italy. On my return to Belgium, I then qualified as a secondary school teacher via the ‘agrégation’ route.
My teaching experience includes working as a teaching assistant in a secondary school in Spain, during which time I also gave private classes. Since returning to Belgium, I taught French for a further five years in a secondary school in Brussels and now have several years’ experience as a private tutor.

My name is Lucas I'm 22 and currently doing a gap year in Lisbon, after finishing my Bachelors in International Relations.

I grew up in Belgium, my mother tongue is French, but I also speak Spanish, German, and Portuguese (Portanto, tambem posso dar aulas em Portugues)

I have been giving French and Spanish classes before since I was 16. I love to teach and to also learn a lot from the students.
I did in-person teaching but also gave online tutoring classes. The students I taught ranged a lot in level, from A2 to C1, which made me adapt the course to every person specifically. I take communication courses. During the course I will of course be required to correct grammar and conjugation errors and help fill in vocabulary gaps.
I will lead the student to try to maintain a fluid discussion. It's by practicing that we learn :D!
I would also suggest some written exercises. However, the student must be able to speak at least English so that we can communicate if necessary.
However, in my course we will maximize the time spent speaking in French.

I'm going to fazer aulas de communication. During this time, it is clear that you will be able to correct grammatical errors, conjugate and learn to detect gaps in your vocabulary. You encourage others to try to maintain a fluid conversation. In practice it is a good way to learn! You are also welcome to write exercises. However, it is important that some people have English language skills to have our communication, which is necessary. No matter what you do, we will maximize the time dedicated to speaking in French. :D
