I will provide various texts and sections from selected readings to help the students develop the skills of analyzing and interpreting language. The writing portion of this class will expand the knowledge of the students to be able to express their thoughts clearly and creatively through structured writing. Through exercises and free writing, the students will develop essential writing skills for academic and personal success.

I am eager to help young people feel confident when writing sociology essays. I will place an emphasis on deconstructing the questions students are given by encouraging them to reword the question to offer a different perspective on it. In addition, the main aim of a sociology essay is to convince the reader more and more of the argument you have claimed in the introduction. I want to help students do this by helping them follow the PEAL structure, i.e. Point, Evidence, Analysis, Link back to question. I have found this a very effective and coherent way of structuring an essay. I have studied Sociology for 7 years now, at AS/A Level, Undergraduate Level and now at MSc level at LSE.
