I like to keep it varied - a fun lesson but with loads of grammar improvement, vocabulary but also games to consolidate these. Lessons are tailor-made to what you want. I use several books and methods to make your lesson topnotch. I teach online via Zoom or here in my home. Every lesson of 50 min I sent all details home so you can revise what we have done and you can see your homework. I am a Certified Teacher of Dutch as an Additional Language and I have a University Degree in teaching Dutch Language and Literature from Leiden University. I have specialized in teaching Dutch as a Second Language at Hogeschool Amsterdam. I have lived abroad for 17 years so know a lot of living abroad. Having been an expatriate myself I like teaching people from other cultures. I speak good English and have some understanding of German, French and Spanish. I have been teaching Dutch since 1995 in the States - in Iowa - and since 2016 in Leiden - when I came back from living in Scotland, South East Asia and the States - in my own little company Doses of Dutch. Since 2019 I teach two groups of students in Wassenaar for four mornings a week as well. Usually people buy a package of ten lessons.

This class, specifically, is for people who are not native Dutch speakers and wish to sharpen their skills. The level you are on now does not matter, if anything, the less you know the more room there is for improvement! I have been tutoring and teaching Dutch for quite some time and have therefore gained a significant amount of experience. I am very much willing to take the time and make you grow step by step. Or, if by any chance, you need one-time help with for example an assignment then this is fine too!

English is a world language and therefore very important to learn for your child's future. Learning it at a young age will benefit him or her greatly in areas such as work and school, but also in the area of traveling and making international friends. If your child still has difficulty speaking Dutch, I can also help with that.

As non-Dutch speaking parents, it is certainly not easy to teach your children Dutch or help them become more fluent in the new language. Who wants some extra exercise for their kids? I would like to help you with that. As their vocabulary expands and their sentences become more fluent, your children will become more confident. I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.
