About Me

Holder of a Jazz DEM (France) and a Master in Jazz interpretation and composition, I already have practice in teaching. I'm currently starting a second Master, in instrumental pedagogy, in the same school. I worked for two years in two music schools before settling in Lausanne and I also gave private clarinet lessons.

My goal is to keep the student passionated by the instrument and the music in general, I'm trying to find a studying support based on the musical tastes of the students as well as bringing him/her to discover other musical genres, other ways to apprehend music.

I graduated with a Master in Jazz performance and composition and a Master in Jazz instrumental pedagogy at the HEMU in Lausanne. I have gained teaching experience since 2013 through private lessons as well as lessons in two music schools. I am a musician in different groups (Traditional Jazz, Jazz-fusion, Modern Jazz (my sextet)) in France and Switzerland. I also trained in classical orchestration for two years.

My lessons are aimed at beginners as well as more advanced, of all ages.

We will be able to approach the technical notions of the instrument in order to better master it but also improvisation, musical theory, composition, rhythm.
I try to base my pedagogy on the musical tastes of the students while making them discover, by listening or playing, other musical currents.
I play clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone and I can accompany you on the piano depending on the pieces.

Please note, however, that I cannot lend you an instrument.

The course can take place at my home or in my office.
I can travel to your home but a travel allowance will be required.

My classical initial training opened me the basics of music theory, harmony, instrumental technique. The 5 string banjo is an amazing instrument. It's driving trademark sound and it's African roots has contributed to many music traditions, including Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz and world music.

In my class you'll first learn the basics, how to hold and pick and read tablatures. We'll then go through how to play a tune, accompany other instruments and finally, improvise. During the year I'll teach you basic music theory like rhythm, harmony and a bit of ear training to help you develop your understanding and relationship to the instrument.

We'll mainly play Bluegrass Scruggs style at first, then we'll dive into melodic style and sigle string, that will all be useful for playing other kinds of music, like Irish music, Pop, Jazz or Blues. My name is Clément, I am a professional musician and drum and percussion teacher. I am a graduate of the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg and holder of the State Diploma, I am currently continuing my journey at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in Master Performer Composer Jazz.
During my career, I had the opportunity to play in several contexts (solo, chamber music band, orchestra) and to be able to immerse myself in different musical aesthetics. (classical, jazz, current, world)

Another important axis in my eyes in learning an artistic practice is based on the concept of creation, which allows the development of the imagination.

For the drums, in line with your wishes and the objectives that we will have put in place, we can explore the different styles. (rock, funk, jazz, latin, metal..)
For example, here are some concepts that we will work on:
- coordination and independence
- develop their musicality and groove
- technique and sound
- rhythm and reading on score

We can also approach classical percussions (keyboards, skins...) and world percussions (Brazilian, Cuban and African).
