Hey there, I'm Zeynep! I was born in Turkey, Istanbul but I was raised internationally and went to a half English- half Turkish bilingual school. I am currently living in Zurich, Switzerland. I'm studying architecture at the ETH. I'm very passionate about teaching and I really enjoy it! I'm not a big fan of being very serious and formal in our lessons, instead, I like to create a fun and enjoyable learning environment. If you would like to get piano lessons, music theory or composing lessons from me, here's my background: I have completed all the 8 grades of the certification of THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC and I have been playing the piano for 12 years. If you have any health issues that may affect your voice I can give you advice and guidance, special exercises , yoga routines etc - having suffered myself from GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) and a resulting small vocal node in the past, and having dealt with various health issues - despite which I have managed to still work as a singer!

I can teach you to:

- Improvise and write songs.
- Develop your expression.
- Develop your technique without losing your own unique sound.
- Extend your range to at least 3 octaves (sometimes even 4!)
- Breath control and control of your entire range.
- Sing in a variety of techniques and styles- become a versatile singer!
- Basic guitar/keyboard skills if requested.
- Music Theory lessons upon request.

I have an acute ear for detail and upon our first session and hearing you we will be able to discuss your voice and how to move forward.

Music theory lessons, for children (from 9 years old) and adults.

Passionate about music theory and music theory, I would be happy to share with you my enthusiasm for music theory, so unfairly devalued, due to the sometimes brutal methods with which it is taught.

In the program :
- reading notes (treble clefs, C clefs, F clefs)
- reading rhythms (quarter notes, eighth notes, double / triple / quadruple eighth notes, triplets and other dotted notes)
- dictation of notes (training your ear takes time, but when the exercises are "tailor-made" and progressive, you progress faster)
- dictation of rhythms

Do not hesitate to tell me the context of your request (competition preparation, repurposing of instruments, exams, etc.).

The course durations offered are deliberately short to encourage maximum concentration.

It will be essential to prepare the exercises offered between classes, to progress in a way that gives you satisfaction and nourishes your motivation.

In case of a former experience in playing the piano, I build on their existing knowledge and continue to expand their skills and creativity. I am also open to student's suggestions, I believe that playing a piece they enjoy is effective in keeping them motivated.

ADULTS
It's never too late to pick up a new skill. As an adult, you have unique advantages over children when it comes to learning music. You have greater focus, a better grasp of music theory, and a strong motivation to succeed.
