Improve your ability to confidently and successfully communicate in English. This means not only building grammar and vocabulary but also developing communication skills and strategies. Many courses focus only on linguistic competence (grammar exercises), but communication involves so many other competences, including discourse competence (structuring and connecting your ideas); sociolinguistic and pragmatic competence (politeness strategies; using tact to discuss difficult situations; influencing; persuading etc); and strategic competence (using strategies to help maintain clear and fluent communication when you don ́t know the ideal way to express your ideas).
