Historical Plucked string specialist, Matthew focuses on the repertoire of the theorbo, lute, baroque guitar and 19th-century guitar. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Italy. He performs on the instrument(s): Renaissance Lute, Baroque Guitar, Baroque Lute, and Theorbo as both a soloist and continuo player. In the spring of 2018, Matthew was invited to perform Vivaldi’s Guitar Concerto in D major RV 93 on Baroque guitar as part of SFCM Baroque Concerto Winner’s concert and again in 2019 with Karl Kohaut’s Baroque Lute Concerto in F major. He has participated with the SF Conservatory Baroque Ensemble to bring to life: Handel’s Atalanta, and Rodelinda, and Tamerlano. Most recently, his performances include a production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen with Haymarket Opera, Amherst Early Music Festival’s production of #anch'io (#me too): Six Ariadnes tell their tales.
Matthew has performed and studied with the most renowned lutenists in the industry which include: Charles Weaver, Lucas Harris, Francesca Torelli, Joachim Held, Paul Odette, Paul Beier, Xavier Diaz LaTorre, and Nigel North. Matthew is an active and familiar face in early music ensembles and festivals which include: Amherst Early Music (AEM), the International Baroque Festival at Longy (IBIL), La Entroterre festival, Oregon Bach Festival (OBI), Oberlin Baroque Festival (OBF), SF Renaissance Voices (SFRV), SienAgosto, Tafelmusik Summer and Winter Institutes, SFEMS, Haymarket Opera Company and American Bach Soloists Academy (ABS). His teachers include John Schneiderman, Richard Savino, Marc Teicholz, and Corey Jamason.
Matthew has recently completed a MM program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with an emphasis in Historical Plucked Strings, studying under Richard Savino and Marc Teicholz. Matthew earned his BMus in Guitar/Lute performance from UC Irvine. Matthew is currently a 1st year Master’s in Historical Performance Lute/Theorbo at the Koninklijk Conservatorium under the mentorship of Joachim Held and Mike Fentross.
Matthew is currently active in the Netherlands as a continuo player, chamber musician, soloist, instructor, and clinician.

I started playing the guitar at the age of twelve years old, thru high school and that eventually led me to the National Conservatory of Bucharest, Romania, where I refined my playing and begun teaching.
I am going to encourage you every step of the way with much needed advice on the right technique, score reading, so that you quickly gain confidence in your playing.
I put a high importance on technique and theory because these two aspect, as well as your daily practice, are what will make you have fast progress and thus loads of fun along the way.

In our music lessons, together we find small goals connected to our daily lives. The goals can be different for everyone, but we will think our music making beyond our lessons rooms - it will boosts your motivations! You can expect a lot imageries and creativity in our lessons; it not only make us more musical, but it helps our motor skills as well. You will learn different styles, technique, self expression, and skills to make music together. A bit of music theory and solfege will always be a part of our lessons, and if you want to have more emphasis on them, we can do that, too. Emiliano is Italian guitarist based in Den Haag (NL).
His passion for jazz ,since the high school years, brought him to study jazz guitar in the Netherlands, having the possibility to learn from some of the best teachers and musicians.
He’s currently studying jazz guitar with the Dutch jazz guitarist Martijn Van Ieterson. He also studied with Antoine Boyer and Pedro Martins .He performed with names such Chris Cheek, Philippe Maniez, Eric Ineke, Rob Van Bavel and many more.
Currently he is leader of his own trio with Davids Eglitis and Arjun Ramdas. The trio mostly perform original music and standards from the American Songbook.
In 2023 he won The Grachten Festival Competition (NL) Barga Jazz (IT) and Fara Music (IT) with the Marco Ullstein quintet.
In 2024 he had the chance to perform with the Jazz Orchestra of the Congertgebouw in the main hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (NL).

About me:
I am Nikos and I am a classical guitarist with 15 years of experience. I started playing classical guitar at the age of 10 and from the age of 14, with the supervision of my teacher, I have been helping and guiding younger guitar students, giving me a hands-on experience in teaching from an early age. In 2019, I obtained my soloist diploma from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts, giving me the right to teach and since then I have been teaching privately. Currently, I am studying with professor Pavel Steidl, at the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague and I have been attending a Music Pedagogy course, as well as courses in Early Music.

Since 2014, I have been attending guitar festivals and academies, giving me the opportunity to learn from some of the most important classical guitarists of our era and also be awarded prizes in national and international competitions, such as the 1st prize in Palaio Faliro guitar festival in Athens in 2020 and the 3rd prize in the 1st International Nikita Koshkin competition in Russia in 2021. In 2024, I was honored to receive a scholarship given each year to two European guitarists, giving me the opportunity to attend the Volterra Project Summer Guitar Institute 2024 in Volterra, Italy.

Music Theory:
In 2020 and 2021, I graduated from the music theory departments of the Hellenic Conservatory with a degree in Music Harmony and a degree in Counterpoint.
