About Me

Hi, I graduated as a Master of Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and I have several projects as a composer/arranger and bass player.
Besides an active life as a musician, I teach piano, bass guitar/contrabass, composition and music theory to students of all levels and ages.

I made arrangements/compositions for, among others, the Fuse Ensemble (NL) and I play live with my Jazz Quintet, where I play bass and compose for this band, with which i recorded a CD, ‘Vortex’.
Those and other and new musical experiences inspire me to continue for further development as musician and to pass on my musical knowledge to others.

Anything that is part of a fundamental understanding of music, e.g. music theory, solfège, rhythm and piano will be taught. For me it is very important that the lessons is specifically made for the students regarding content and length. If asked violin and ballett can be taught as well. Students have different aspirations and needs, but in my lessons we can focus on rhythmic variation, tempo, comping, improvisation, ear training, chords, phrasing, articulation, expression - all while learning repertoire. That is how it all comes together, therefore I encourage my students to learn their favourite songs and also repertoire that will strengthen less strong areas of their playing. This means if you want to learn how to play pocket we focus on funk rhythms, if you want to learn how to play straight groove we focus on bossa or latin etc.

With a Bachelor in Jazz Guitar in the pocket - that’s what I mostly play, we can dig into chord melody, single line playing, repertoire and comping in a variety of styles within the jazz idiom.

The first lesson will be a checkup where you are as a student in your musical development, thereafter I will ask about your goals and aspirations and what you’re currently doing to reach them. My role is to oversee this process and share what has helped me in my musical development. I believe instrument lessons need to be practical and be based off concrete exercises that will help you reach the next level. For something to manifest into your playing you have to first get whatever you’re learning into your muscle memory - practice slowly with metronome, continuous repetition over a period of time, then the brain have a greater chance of obtaining the skill. Second step is to gradually increase the tempo and play with a good time feel, by doing this you will have what you’ve learnt in your hands. There are no shortcuts when learning a skill, you simply cannot buy it - you have to earn it!

Hi! I'm Demetrio, a musician and composer from Italy.

From when I was 8 years old, I've been fully immersed in music, starting out with flute, to then switch to drums and to my first conservatory course in classical percussion. Already in the final periods of this study, I began to fall in love with jazz music and with the instrument of the vibraphone, and in September 2022 I moved to the Netherlands to follow my second bachelor course in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, this time in jazz vibraphone. At the moment I'm in my second Master's year of The Hague's conservatory, on my way to graduation at the end of this academic year.

In this class, you'll be able to learn and face many aspects of music, from composing and starting out with the idea of song writing, to diving into music theory, both classical and jazz, and improvisation, as a general topic and in the context of jazz music. All of the topics that I present are offered to give students of any level either a solid base for music theory and improvisation, or to consolidate even more and strenghten your skills on more advanced aspects of music.

I'm very passionate about listening, sharing, directing and finding solutions to problems that anyone in a music learning journey can face, starting from myself. I'm also very patient and I provide clear and practical explanations, which I believe is very needed in such a confusing and aerial topic as music can be.
