I specialize in teaching Russian to adults and children. I use unconventional methods, which involve e-learning (every student get an online account with exercises, homework, and additional materials). I will monitor your progress with a learning curve and adjust my instructions based on your learning style. I believe that motivation is an essential part of language learning. I have worked with adult students for the past 2 years. Classes are based on the requirements of the Russian Language centre, which is the main organization in Russia for teaching foreigners the language. Classes are aimed at learning the reasons behind all the rules and phrases. This way the student can apply his or her knowledge without being constricted to one learnt phrase as in the Russian language a sentence can be said in many different ways with the same meaning.

I am a dual citizen (Russia-USA) native speaker currently studying International Studies at Leiden University. I have past experience tutoring Russian students who want to learn English in Russia. My lessons can either supplement university courses, or work as an individual program.

During my time tutoring students I have developed a personal study program, which helps students better understand the required material. My goal is to teach a language I am passionate about in a relaxed non-overwhelming manner. Students will improve knowledge of spoken and written Russian, as well as improve their accent.

I am a native Russian speaker and can teach Russian to English speakers. I can help you to practice grammar, speaking, pronunciation, listening, writing skills. Also can help with learning Russian from the scratch, starting with the alphabet.

During my lessons, I primarily teach my students not to be afraid to speak Russian. Before classes, I plan topics on which we can talk to expand our vocabulary, and be able to maintain a conversation on a variety of topics.

Also, classes are held in a communication format, so that students learn to understand Russian speech, to be able to ask the questions, reflect on the topic, etc.

Depending on the needs of the student, we study the fundamental grammar rules, which are most important for grammatical speech. To consolidate the material, we do various exercises and tests. Usually, these are texts with gaps that need to be filled. We also do oral exercises so that students can apply grammar rules not only in written assignments but also get used to applying them directly in their speech (which is sometimes a problem because we used to forget some rules in our spoken language).

Since Russian phonetics is quite complicated, I also select various exercises for diction, adapting them for each student (which is always a lot of fun).
