About Me

I started playing at the age of 12. First guitar teacher was a classical guitarist so I come from classical guitar background. Later I played more rock and blues util I fell in love with jazz.

I have preformed in Croatia with my band and also in Spain. My first band was a rock band and later I preformed in duo and trio bands. We played jazz, blues and old classics. Spain brought to me different way of playing as I was accompanied by violin. Our concert included more Spanish style guitar and gypsy jazz.

I was teaching guitar in Croatia for International Academy Crescendo for few years. While living in Spain I was teaching guitar at a local community in Bermejo.

Education

Currently applying for Jazz guitar in Groningen. Private guitar lessons with classical guitarist and pianist. Many years of playing in different styles and different bands in different countries.

Memorizing freatboard through very efficient method.
Also learning all the scales and arpeggios, writing and reading the music.
I can also help with songwriting and singing while playing.

When I got my first guitar on my fifteenth birthday, the appointment was that I would also take lessons immediately to become proficient in it. So I took lessons with Cor, who lived a bit further down the street, and Cor played cowboy music. He saw my eagerness and led me to his supervisor. Songs singing and playing chords, that's what it was about.
This process was repeated on my eighteenth with a classical guitar; as a gift, but also take lessons. Classical lesson at Janine, there I learned to play notes and therefore also of leaves!

The guitar lessons take place after school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Other times are negotiable.
I really like teaching; so my enthusiasm for the instrument has an outlet!
Together we try to find out what makes you like that in guitar playing; that is what we are going to work with. Fingering, percussion and plucking techniques, playing notes and tablature, chords and melodies, songs and grooves, improvisation and performance; it is all covered!

With the classical guitar you can get a lot of different possibilities to play !

Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Canada, I've been playing music for over 40 years. I'm starting to get the hang of it. Classically trained and world influenced, I am proficient in both old and new musical styles My main instrument is guitar, but I am also quite taken by the piano. I would be happy to show you some of what I've learned. I have taught music to people of all ages and of various backgrounds. I have a nice rapport with kids and adults. I am friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and easy to have around for 45 minutes each week. I speak english, french, spanish, german, and some dutch.

I'm open to teach you anything that you are interested in, I have a lot of knowledge on theory, harmony and solfege and I can teach you when is the right time to break the rules. I can also prepare you to enter any music academy.

I teach my students to be independent and to think as professional musicians. I want them not only to be able to understand, perform and arrange music but I also want them to have the big and realistic picture on how the music industry works. And that is why I include in my teaching how to develop a growing mindset that makes you hungry for learning.
I love leading my students to the process of discovering their musical personality.

I'm originally from Italy but lived in Netherlands the last 7 years and New York. I live in Amsterdam at the moment

As I have taught students who not only do music as a hobby, but also students with serious career plans in music, I am open to various styles of playing guitar (jazz, blues, fingerstyle, and other popular genres) to all levels.

My approach is heavily focused on individual student's goals and needs: If you are just starting to play the instrument, for instance, we will focus on learning the basic technique through simple and easy songs. I
f you are intermediate or advanced player already, we will focus on refining your already existing knowledge and find improvements to work on. Or, we can focus on specific themes, for instance improvisation, transcribing, and so on.

I also enjoy music theory very much and as I too struggled with grasping the concept when I was younger I am now more than happy to be able to present the world of music theory to anyone who is interested. We can begin with the basics that can help you improve on your instrument or we can dive deeper into more advanced fields of jazz theory. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar from Prins Claus Conservatorium, however most of my musical education happened on real stages — performing, touring, and working full-time as a musician since 2016.

I’ve toured internationally aboard Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, P&O, Cunard, Ponant, and Princess Cruises, performing everything from solo sets and jazz nights to full-scale theatre productions with singers, dancers, and a full technical crew for audiences up to 1500 people.
This experience shaped me into a truly versatile musician — equally comfortable playing jazz, rock, blues, funk, bossanova, pop.
