About Me

I was born and raised in Russia's cultural capital, St. Petersburg, the city that gave the world the classics of great literature: Pushkin, Lermontov, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Mayakovsky, Tsvetaeva, Akhmatova, Brodsky, Solzhenitsyn, and many others. It is also where Russian ballet flourished and the world has known great composers. The city is the cradle of the Russian Revolution, the city in which the fortunes of the world were changed.

It was here that the first Russian university, St. Petersburg State University, was opened, from which I graduated. From a young age, I was immersed in literature, history, and philosophy, and I also studied classical music. After graduating from the Faculty of Philosophy, I went to study drama in Paris. I lived in Paris for several years, where I learned French in two years, and I can say with certainty that it is possible.

I can teach you how to understand and speak Russian, how to read the greatest works of world literature in their original versions, and how to distinguish between classical Russian and its spoken version, so that people in Russia will rejoice and smile at you when they see that you know their language. Knowing from my own experience what it means to learn a foreign language and how important it is to have a competent teacher who can explain all the parts of the language to you, I can give you good training, discipline, and introduce you to the richness of the Russian language.

Experience / Qualifications

While still in Russia, I tutored young schoolchildren in literature. This was part of an apprenticeship for my final years of high school. As a cultural studies major, I helped other students write dissertations, essays, and theses as a tutor. I also prepared high school students for the Unified State Exam in Russian. While living in Paris, I occasionally gave Russian lessons to a few adults who wanted to learn or improve their Russian.

I am currently in Geneva (Augustins) and am ready to teach Russian as a foreign language to French-speaking children and adults. I teach all levels of Russian and practically all ages, as I have experience with both children and adults.
