English classes for beginners, intermediates, advanced and all those in between
From 73.26 C$ /h
From beginners to advanced I provide a guiding hand through worlds' third most spoken language: English.
Depending on your needs we will focus on grammar, pronunciation, writing or speaking. As living in a foreign country myself I have come to realize in learning a new language, the best way to proceed is through dialoge. Expect an informal though serious interaction during lessons, as I will be rather a tutor than a teacher.

About Me
So let me introduce myself here, my name is Doris,I am originally from the Netherlands where I studied Fine Arts and recently moved to Switzerland to study some more, also, in the field of Fine Arts. As I stated above, I am born in the Netherlands, but during my childhood, I lived in Georgia, the USA. So I know what it is like to struggle with learning a foreign language and understand the norms and values of this foreign land.
Therefore I am willing to give an extra hand in the mastering of the English language.
I speak fluently English and Dutch (which is most probably not too helpful for anyone), basic German and a very minimal amount of French.
Moving to the USA and having to go to an English speaking school, I learnt the language very quickly, as I heard it all day, every day, and was spoken to only in English.
I think the big problem in language courses mostly lies in the structure of the course; too much grammatical rules too soon versus too little listening and speaking and getting comfortable with the language you're trying to learn. In my opinion, the best way to learn a new language is to indulge yourself in to the language and learn to speak comfortably, regardless of the grammatical mistakes you might make at the beginning.
Watch movies even though you might not completely understand every dialog, have a conversation in English even though you don't understand every question of your opponent, as long as you don't end up avoiding confronting yourself with this foreign language. Don't be afraid to make mistakes!
Now do not get me wrong, of course, correct grammar also plays an important in the mastering a language, but starting out focussing only grammar and structures makes the learning very complex and confusing and slows down the process of you actually being able to make yourself clear to people. Blockage occurs often to people who get overwhelmed or shy by all the rules they try to remember, trust me I know from my own experience.
Once you get the hang of it, or if you are already an intermediate English speaker we will focus more and grammar and you will see that the conjugations that seemed to you so random at first, will now come naturally.
As soon as you get over your shyness, you will learn English in no time!

Experience / Qualifications
Apart from helping friends and classmates with English translations for essays and writings this is my first (real) teaching job, but as I have followed many classes myself, with time I have gained certain expectations of how I think a teacher should act, react and anticipate.
