Hi! I'm Varnika.

I believe learning should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.

I have an interdisciplinary background in Computer Science Engineering, Mental Health Social Work, and International Development, and I've worked with the United Nations for four years.

Along the way, I've designed training programmes, taught English at summer camps, and worked with people from many different countries and cultures.

Outside of work, I'm a published poet who loves literature, storytelling, and language. Whether we're exploring English, computer science, or academic writing, I enjoy helping students build confidence, ask questions, and discover their own way of learning.

**Who am I?**
I am a patient, dynamic person with a passion for mathematics and programming. For several years, I have been teaching students from ages 7 to adults, adapting my teaching methods to each student's pace and needs. My goal is for each student to gain a deep understanding of the concepts, rather than having to memorize them. I strive to make these subjects accessible and stimulating, while fostering open dialogue and a climate of trust.

I have led several workshops for the EPFL Science Promotion Service, including:
- introductions to artificial intelligence for classes aged 10 to 18 at the Musée de la Main in Lausanne;
- the “Internet & Code” and “Coding Club” workshops, aimed at young girls aged 9 to 16 to discover programming;
- “Maths in Games” workshops for 7-11 year olds.

I was also a student assistant for the mathematics course in the preparatory classes at EPFL, and a mathematics and programming tutor for several students during my studies.

I graduated from EPFL with a degree in mathematics, having completed all the Bachelor's level courses in this discipline. I have gained significant experience tutoring students from middle school to university level (mathematics and physics). I have also assisted with teaching at EPFL, particularly in specialized courses such as analytic geometry (advanced mathematics course), analysis (first and second year Bachelor's level), and linear algebra (first year Bachelor's level). My in-depth mastery of the theory in these disciplines provides me with the skills and teaching abilities necessary to effectively support high school and university students, helping them understand the theoretical concepts in their courses and apply them practically in their exercises.

Typical course: a quick review (adapted to needs) of the essential concepts of the course, followed by practical exercises and oral role-playing (going to the board, discussion on the physical meaning, etc.), as in a competitive oral exam.

All my lessons are prepared in advance based on the topics covered in class (the student specifies their needs from one session to the next). I also create a handout containing sample exercises illustrating different methods, fully corrected and explained by me.
