👋 Who I Am
Hi, I’m Shuchen! I’m a visual artist trained in China and France.
I’ve worked with children, adults, seniors, and people from all kinds of backgrounds. Now, I’m focusing on helping children express themselves, grow in confidence, and have fun with art.

👩‍🎨 My Teaching Method
I will guiding young creators to discover their own way of creating.
In our workshops:
• Each class has a mix of hands-on projects, fun techniques, and inspiration from art history
• Kids explore at their own pace — whether they’re painting for the first time or already love art
• I create a welcoming, playful environment where children feel free to try, experiment, and imagine

My name is Shuchen — I’m a trained visual artist from China and France, now based in Delft.
In these workshops, I share the creative learning style I grew up with: each session explores a new material, technique, or concept — just like in a professional art atelier.

✨ Workshop Details:
When: Every Wednesday, 19:00–22:00 (2hours guidance +1hour self drawing time )
Small Group: Max 8 people for personalised attention.

🎨 Not just a workshop — a creative journey.
Each week we explore a new topic or technique — from line drawing, sketch to painting. Get to know materials: pencil, charcoal, acrylic, oil painting, Chinese ink. Dive in to various styles: Impressionism, Fauvism and Surrealism — just like in real art school.
Every session is beginner-friendly and independent, so you can join anytime. It’s perfect if you want more than a one-time experience — and want to grow real skills over time.

Most short workshops focus on just one thing — plant, portrait or landscape. But real artists learn to see and understand the principles. So that you can find your own way to create.
In my workshops, we go deeper and learn the grammer of visual art: exploring value, color theory, composition and creativity through many styles.
Think of it like an art school evening — but cozy, flexible, and beginner-friendly.

👩‍🎨My teaching method:
I’m an art teacher with my own atelier, and I also teach at a local art centre. I run creative workshops for both kids and adults from all kinds of backgrounds. I love designing classes that mix hands-on technique with Art history.
I’m really enjoying guiding people discover their own expression in art.
My approach tend to be student-focused which also shaped by my international background. For me, it is important creating a welcoming space where people feel free and inspired to explore. Whether someone’s picking up a brush for the first time or coming back to art after years, I’m there to encourage them.

Do you love Italian people, history, and food and you would like to speak the language?
I am a CEDILS-certified Italian teacher born and raised in Florence, and I've also been a language student myself for a long time! If you want to be able to interact with Italians quickly, I can give you some tips about correct pronunciation, fundamental grammar, and vocabulary, but also Italian art and popular culture, which I think is fundamental to understanding the mentality and the country that you are going to interact with.
Lessons will be tailored according to the student's needs, level, and mother language and focused on the conversation.

With activities ranging from painting, drawing, collaging, and even making sculptures out of found objects, learn and/or improve your art skills by pushing yourself a little, or a lot, with this class. If you are an absolute beginner, or a professional seeking to diversify your practice, these lessons will undoubtedly challenge you as an artist. You have the freedom to explore whichever field of art you want, just let me know, and I will do as much as I can to guide and teach you the necessary skills with fun and educational exercises. I have more than 5 years of teaching experience, and am a former art teacher for children between the ages of 3 and 15. Are you looking to improve your drawing skills or you don't even know where to start but you dream of an art career? Or perhaps you have entrance exams coming up for art school or architecture studies and you want to ensure you will pass?
This is an individual course design depending on your request and your starting level. Each course includes lessons filled with instruction information, practice time and homework assignment. You can begin with Level 1 and continue further or choose to start on a specific level.

Level 1 - This course is an absolute beginner level. You can hold a pencil and a brush but the starting is so stressful and confusing. You're scared of making a mistake, you don't know where to begin, you're getting lost when it comes to composition or shading whenever you start to draw. I GOT YOU! Those are very common feelings when you start to draw and it can be discouraging, give you a feeling of being stuck or just very dissatisfied with your art.

In this course I will guide you through basic traditional art techniques such as pencil sketching, pen and ink drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. We will be studying composition, forms, shapes, structure and texture of different objects such as fabric, furniture, animal fur, plants etc. I’ll show you how to achieve depth in your shading, how to understand light, and the effect of fragility of plants or hardship and reflection of metal. I’ll teach you observation, things to look for in the drawing, but most of all I'll give you tools for future independent learning that will save you tons of time while figuring on your own!
The key to success is your motivation and time you will dedicate to your homework practice.

Level 2 - This course is directed towards people who have some basic understanding of traditional art media techniques such as pencil sketching, pen and ink drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. Your art is currently your hobby, but you would like to change it into a career? Know more about art as a business model, get insights into career tips and opportunities. Or do you want to improve your sketching skills, learn to digitise your work, create digital illustrations in Procreate, or combine it all in your own unique way?

Level 3 - Advanced. It will focus on your specific desire as an artist and adjust to your skills and technique preferences. During the first introduction skills, I’ll provide some exercises to see how you work and together we will find the way we can work and improve.

Art Courses are a playful, hands-on after-school art workshop for children ages 7 and up (and curious teens or adults too!), where creativity, self-expression, and teamwork come together.
