I think audio books are a great way to learn English in your spare time. But make sure the narrator has an accent you like! I have some great recommendations for audio books, with amazing English narrators.

Reading and discussing poetry is an elegant way for advanced students to study English (ESL). 'The Built Moment' by Lavinia Greenlaw is the book I currently use for class reading and discussions.

We can meet at your residence in Cherbourg - if you live close to the marina. I also teach online. For reading I will recommend books we can read together according to your ability.

About Me

Hello, my name is Tony, I’m from 🇬🇧 London 🇬🇧 currently living on a boat in 🇫🇷 Normandy, and I’d love to be your English teacher! I'm not your average teacher; I'm a sailor who lives on a boat and have just completed writing my first novel, which I’m now working to get published.

My first novel was written during lockdown and I didn't give any thought to the precise market I was writing for - so my second novel will be a lot better planned. Agents ask you questions like, "Name 3 books published in the last ten years that are similar to yours." LOL my last book was inspired by books written in the 1970's.

In the 90's I was a filmmaker. My biggest success was selling a half hour documentary on hats to BBC1 after it won a film competition judged by Malcolm Mclaren.

As an ex-filmmaker it's my duty to watch lots of movies and T.V. shows on Netflix and Amazon and Apple. I wonder if we have the same tastes?!

Education

I have grade 'A' English Language and English Literature GCSE's. And I studied Film at the Vancouver Film School in Canada. And over the years I have collected many sailing qualifications.

I am registered to teach English online and irl. I have been teaching English (ESL) since September 2024. Teaching is about listening and communicating clearly.
