I have gone through a lot of education to call myself a tutor, even though a private tutoring sector nowadays is not regulated by any official standards: I graduated with honours from one of highest-ranked universities, MSU, and I also completed two speciality development courses that were for “Russian as a foreign language” teachers.
I teach Russian in three different languages! French, Italian and English! so therefore, I have experienced mastering 3 foreign languages on my own and this is not easy. the confusion of the structure, the stiffness of the textbook phrasings are frustrating.
