I taught M1 and M5 math for 10 years in the English Program for Talented Students at Satit Patumwan Demonstration School in Bangkok before moving to Cha Am in 2021.

I'm an ex-research engineer from the San Diego, US with 18 years' experience designing, building and testing prototypes and experiments for multiple government agencies as a private contractor, including the FAA, DARPA, NRL, and the FCC. This experience has given me a unique ability, combined with my love of almost anything technical, to reach students who previously could not see the light, and to help successful students to see their full potential. I love working with kids to help them see and reach their dreams.

Many students need to see the connection between the math or science they are learning today and the real world. I struggled with math because I needed to understand how and why it worked, I couldn't just memorize equations and then be expected to apply them. Without this connection many students can get frustrated with math and lose the motivation to work hard enough to reach their goals.

It's not new that even top medical universities across the globe are seeking math, physics and engineering graduates above all else. Having a good basic understanding of math at an early age is critical, and the P5 to M3 age level is probably the most critical. This is where I can make the biggest impact, and hopefully set students on a successful trajectory.

My proudest achievement in life has been watching my previous students/friends become successful and knowing I had at least a small part in helping them get there. It's hard to really get to know, and become friends with 70 new students a year, but I made it my mission. Really knowing a student helps me figure out why they should be learning math, and how best to teach it to them. It is a lot more fun to learn math with a friend, plus, we are motivated by our friends, and we want to make them proud.

Math skills are your golden ticket when you graduate high school — they can open up so many doors for you. That’s why I teach math instead of physics or chemistry.
Extra information
I work with paper, pencil and calculator. Nothing beats real life practice, and lots of it. I believe in teaching by doing, not just lecturing. We will be working many many problems together, and pushing the limits of what we can do, every time. You will need to flex that "math muscle" over and over to make it strong!

About Me
My name is Casey, and I'm a retired research engineer from San Diego, CA. I have a BS in physics with a minor in chemistry from SDSU, and an MA in education from Framingham University. I worked in San Diego as a research engineer for 18 years on projects for the FAA, DARPA, NRL and the FCC mostly. From 2012 to covid, I taught M1 to M6 math in the English Program for Talented Students at Satit Patumwan Demonstration School in Bangkok, before moving to Cha Am.

I have been entrenched in the contently changing world of computer security since being an engineer designing hardened secure computers for the battlefield devices we would build, to the computers that run every security machine you encounter at the airport. With all that, nothing compares to what you need to know to about computer security just to safely deal with your online bank account, exchange, crypto, or just safely and easily manage your numerous usernames and passwords. I have had to become an expert at this over the many years.
Education
• BS in Physics, Minor in Chemistry, San Diego State University
• Master of Education from Framingham State University
• AA in Criminal Justice, Santa Barbara City College
• TESL/TEFL Certificate – 120 hours, Patong Language School

As a math teacher:
• Ten plus years of experience teaching mathematics at the 7th and 11th grade levels.
• Experience teaching pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus and calculus.
• Fluent with Google Classroom, Windows, Linux, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Android,
Apple and Student Chromebooks.
• Use a variety of real-world examples to engage students in the subject matter that
encourages them to be more motivated and confident in their ability to learn difficult
material. Thus, helping students more easily transfer theoretical knowledge into
practical knowledge.
• Set a positive, passionate example to foster a similar attitude towards math and
science – and lifelong learning in general.
• Specialize in electronics, laboratory experimentation, physical chemistry and
energetic materials, both in real practice and theoretically.
• Happy, outgoing and energetic educator who loves being a lifelong learner and
getting better every single day.

Feeling secure online is becoming harder every day. Most people have no idea how vulnerable they are to cyber-attacks that could cost them dearly. There is a mountain of advice on the internet and YouTube, and it's hard to know who to believe when it comes to securing your private information and assets. I can guide you through the weeds so you can feel confident when doing everything from online banking and investing to social media. You will learn how to assign risk levels to everything you do online so you can avoid doing things that will increase your risk level. We are all at risk to some level, and each person has to decide how far they are willing to reasonably go to get the security they require.

As a near 10 year veteran of "crypto", I have gained extensive knowledge and experience trading, "HODLing" and running nodes (miners) over the many years. This knowledge also comes hand in hand with a deep understanding of computer security and all the security issues affecting holding and securing your personal cryptocurrency assets.

In this class, you can learn from the beginning, get a much deeper understanding of specific topics (like hardware wallets, password security, etc.), or just get some help on how to get involved in crypto, where to start, and how to get a good start.
