I have taught Piano for over 30 years, love teaching, and aim to bring the joy of learning into my student's life, no matter their age or ability. I believe everyone can connect to music and benefit from learning an instrument.
In my teaching, I emphasise technical points, improvisation, theory, and listening to music from around the world.
Before committing to teach a new student, I would like a lesson to ensure we both can start our musical path.

Experience / Qualifications
Method
Experience has taught me that it is very important to build a warm, trusting relationship with students, especially the very young ones. Bringing laughter, a sense of humour, games, and creating imaginative stories with music are my motives throughout the lesson.
I always encourage all my students, of whatever age or ability, to do some simple improvisation, and have developed several ways to facilitate this. I emphasise developing technique and music theory as they make the foundation of becoming a good musician throughout life.
The goals and character of each student guides the teaching approach I adopt. Some students enjoy learning for the joy of music, whilst others prefer to aim for recognised qualifications or grades. In both cases I aim to make learning enjoyable.
I currently teach piano and musicianship to individuals, hold workshops both in the UK and Belgium.
I maintain DBS clearance (formerly known as a CRB check).
