About Me

I am a native English speaker who lived in the multi-lingual and multi-cultural city of Toronto. I spent most of my life surrounded by ESL speakers and have naturally learned to work with them in all contexts of my life. As a child, I studied Portuguese, which is also my native language, and as an adolescent, I picked up French and Spanish. Throughout my university studies, I partook in many language immersion programs. These experiences made me realize that languages could be an excellent asset in our competitive job markets. This understanding led me to embark on my own language journey, where I moved to the French-speaking province in Canada to teach French-speaking students the importance of learning another language. Here I worked as an English Instructor working with a variety of students of different ages and levels of English. I encouraged my students to improve their knowledge of the English language and its associated cultures. As a language learner myself I understood the hardships of my students and was always able to find a point of understanding that would turn into a lesson. Teaching, tutoring, and working collectively with others who do not speak my native language has always been a part of my life. It is my nature to help others around me to feel comfortable in the language they are trying to learn and to be able to speak confidently.
