About Me
Anton (°1997, Belgium) is a Brussels jazz double bassist with a focus on live electronics. He collects and archives all kinds of recorded sounds, which he edits and molds into new sounds: ranging from pure field recordings to deconstructed and granulated sonic textures. His electronic music and sound design are based on spectral sound synthesis and on the recorded sound in relation to the original object, inspired by the theories of Pierre Schaeffer and Denis Smalley. Anton processes the sounds and manipulates them in such a way that the origin of the sound becomes barely recognizable and a new musical element presents itself. With these elements and different sonic qualities, he improvises to create spatial (live) compositions, drawing on concepts such as chance, randomness and noise-based algorithms. His music fluctuates between ambient soundscapes and experimental sound design. He bases his live shows on chance and algorithmic composition, combined with improvisation, he re-composes his original material in a Schaeffer-like way.
