Both Brazilian and European Portuguese. We will start with the basic grammar of the Portuguese language. Depending on the pace and experience of the student, conversation will gradually take place in Portuguese. You will receive useful and practical tips to make learning the language even more fun.

My name is Nicolas, and I am a Brazilian Portuguese teacher with eight years of teaching experience. I have been speaking Portuguese for about ten years now. I learned the language while living in Brazil for several long periods, both for study and work. I am currently living there again.

Having also gone through the process of learning to speak this language, I am well aware of the different stages my students go through. This helps a lot.

My lessons are tailor-made to achieve personal goals and are adapted to the specific needs of each student.

Practice is prioritized throughout the learning process in order to gain autonomy as quickly as possible. Grammar is also covered, depending on the student's level.

This course is aimed at:
- Beginners (basics, conversation, travel);
- Intermediate/advanced learners (improvement, exam preparation);
- Professionals (business Portuguese, interview preparation).

Currently based in Brazil, I am teaching my classes online. I will be back in Geneva in mid-December for in-person classes.

Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information.

Looking forward to hearing from you :)

This class is for anyone who wants to learn or improve their Brazilian Portuguese, whether you are a complete beginner or already have some knowledge of the language.

The lessons are adapted to your goals and can focus on conversation, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, writing, or a combination of these. You will learn how to communicate more naturally in Brazilian Portuguese and understand how the language is actually used in everyday situations.

If your goal is conversation, we can use topics that interest you to build your vocabulary and speaking confidence. I take notes during our conversations and give you corrections and feedback without constantly interrupting you, so you can speak freely while still learning from your mistakes.

If you want to improve your grammar, we will focus on the structures you actually need and how they are used in real Brazilian Portuguese. I also like to explain the difference between textbook Portuguese and the way Brazilians naturally speak.

Pronunciation can also be part of our lessons, including sounds that are often challenging for learners, such as the nasal sounds in words like *pão*, *não* and *vão*. The goal is clear and natural communication, rather than trying to eliminate your accent.

Every lesson is adapted to your level, interests and learning needs. Whether you are learning Portuguese for travel, work, relationships, studies, or simply because you love the language and Brazilian culture, we can build the lessons around your goals.

🎯 Grow fluent and confident in Portuguese with lessons adapted to your goals, level and interests. Real-life use of the language is at the heart of my teaching, so in class we’ll speak Portuguese as much as possible and focus on situations and topics that are useful and meaningful to you.

📚 I mostly work with textbooks, especially if you’re a complete beginner, but I also use materials connected to your interests to help you learn and practise everyday vocabulary and expressions. Here are some other ways we can work together: watching a TV series, reading a book or even writing it, making a podcast... If there is another way you want to work, let’s make it happen!

🧩 When we work on grammar, I’ll encourage you to reflect and notice patterns, so you can understand how Portuguese works through guided discovery rather than simply memorising rules.

✍️ If you’re preparing for the DELE exam, I’ll teach you strategies for each part of the test and we’ll focus especially on speaking and writing. We’ll practise with exam-style tasks and work on the areas you need to improve so you know what to expect and how to approach the exam with confidence.

🗓️ If you’d like to get a better idea of what a class with me is like, contact me to arrange a meeting for free! We’ll talk about your goals, how we can work towards them, and we’ll do a short activity together.
