As an artist, it is essential that you know basic or advanced anatomy. From character design, to portraits, animation and concept art, knowing anatomy will give you a kickstart as a professional creator. From my own experience, knowing anatomy at a decent level helped me start my Animation Arts & Design degree and get a scholarship for my portfolio. Even if your goal is simply being able to draw better characters for yourself, anatomy lessons at will be helpful to improve your overall level and give you a strong basis for better quality art work.

This class will help you easily learn basic or advanced anatomy and start your professional path as an artist, concept artist or animator.

Hello there! My full name is Yelyzaveta but students are welcome to call me Liza.
I currently study at Animation Arts & Design at Bournemouth University and I am professional in traditional art, as well as a beginner animator and digital artist.
I speak fluent English, Ukrainian and Russian.
Whether you want to learn art as a hobby or professionally, I welcome all students who are keen to dig into this field.

I have learned traditional drawing, sketching, illustration and fine art (painting with oils, watercolour) at a National Art School. Besides, I have learned advanced anatomy with a private tutor and was accepted at Bournemouth University Animation Arts & Design course with a scholarship for excellent art portfolio.

Drawing is an important way to record, observe and promote inspiration, allowing everyone to think about the current environment and their own state. As a beginner or illustrator, you should have the ability to comprehend the nature of each drawing material, to perceive how they combine together and build deeper connections.

This class is aimed at teaching you to understand and apply a diverse range of material for your drawing. More significantly, you will possess a sketchbook of your own, documenting all kinds of messy ideas, drafts or beautiful works. It is time to open up your own artistic path and discover your own desire and potential for art.

- Portrait drawing and sketching by hand. Introducing the pencil, a simple but powerful tool.
- Learning/studying/observing human face proportions, light and shadow
- Drawing a face from a template/photograph or real life (according to class arrangements)
Alternative methods, tracing portrait styles (recommenced for beginners)

- Modification, abstraction, colourising of drawn portraits by hand and via Photoshop
- Understanding the importance of contrasts and layouts to achieve eye-catching effects
- Experimentation with different materials such as acrylics, textiles, lace and photography
- Creating of digital portraits using collage techniques via Photoshop/Illustrator
- Methods of colourising, creation and usage of pattern designs
- Exploring numerous ways of modification, stepping outside borders, creating innovative designs through unconventional ways, using materials out of their context, creating multiple designs out of 1 sketch
- Principles of fashion drawing, illustration

Taught by RCA graduate and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This class is an informal assessment of your visual arts level. It is available online internationally and in person within 25 miles of BH12 in the UK.*

The purpose of this class is to discover what visual arts level you are. This information can be used so I can create bespoke classes for you, you may be wanting a second opinion or you may want advice on what creative path to follow, whether that is continuing to work with me or for further education, scholarships or competition applications.

You are welcome to book to support your education, for leisure or simply so I can help you fulfil a creative dream. I also have a lot of experience helping clients overcome creative blocks and developing wellbeing practices for creatives.

I am here to support you, so however you wish to use this class and its results is your choice.

We will discuss your passions and your goals.

You will be asked to prepare a selection of the work you have made previously to show me. This should demonstrate the range of media you enjoy working with, the subjects you love and/or the goal you currently have. Eg. If you would like to improve your painting, make sure you include recent examples of your painting. If you do not have anything, please do not worry we can create some together.

In this class I will ask you some questions and I will ask you to draw for me so I can assess your drawing ability and look at how you use your tools. By asking you to draw for me, I am assessing many things that are relevant for all methods of visual arts so please do not worry if drawing is not a strength of yours. If you have particular goals we will explore this also.

I will explain more as we work together.

I can provide a paragraph of written tutorial feedback on what we discover together in this class so you can use this as reference moving forwards (this is optional).
