Want to learn drums, improve your technique, or simply become a more confident and musical drummer?

I offer personalised one-to-one drum lessons in my professional recording studio in Stockholm. I’m a professional drummer, music producer and songwriter from the Netherlands, with many years of experience playing, recording and producing music.

My lessons are practical, relaxed and tailored to each student’s age, level and musical interests. We can work on everything from basic technique, coordination and timing to grooves, fills, playing along to songs, improvisation and creative drumming.

Lessons are available for students from 7 years old, from complete beginners to more experienced drummers who want to take their playing to the next level.

One of the unique aspects of my lessons is that we can also record during the session. This allows you to listen back to your playing, understand what you are doing well and identify areas for improvement – just like in a professional studio environment.

Lessons are available in English, Swedish or Dutch, and can be either 30 or 60 minutes.

My goal is simple: to create a positive and inspiring environment where you can develop your skills, build confidence and, most importantly, enjoy playing the drums.

About Me

For me, teaching is about much more than simply showing someone how to play the drums. I genuinely enjoy seeing people become motivated, gain confidence and discover that they are capable of more than they initially thought.

Everyone learns differently. Some people pick things up quickly through playing, while others prefer to understand the theory behind what they are doing. Some students need more time and repetition, while others learn best by experimenting and trying things for themselves. I try to recognise these differences and adapt my teaching style to the person sitting behind the kit.

What motivates me most as a teacher is seeing that moment when something finally clicks. When a student starts to understand a groove, plays something they couldn’t play before, or simply leaves the lesson feeling more confident, that’s what makes teaching so rewarding for me.

I also believe that learning music should be fun. I like to bring humour and a relaxed atmosphere into my lessons, because I think people learn better when they feel comfortable and are not afraid to make mistakes. There is no pressure to be perfect – mistakes are part of learning.

My goal is that every student leaves the studio with a smile, feeling that they have learned something new and are excited to pick up the sticks again.

For me, the best lesson isn’t necessarily the one where you learn the most technically. It’s the one that makes you want to come back and play again.

Education

From 2009 to 2012, I studied at Zadkine Popacademie in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where I completed a professional music education focused on developing both my musicianship and my skills as a performing artist.

During my time at the academy, I gained extensive experience performing on stage in a wide range of musical settings. This taught me not only how to perform confidently in front of an audience, but also how to work effectively with other musicians and adapt to different musical situations.

A particularly valuable part of the programme was learning about the professional side of the music industry. I developed important skills in networking, communication and building relationships within the music scene. These experiences helped me understand that being a professional musician is about much more than simply playing your instrument.

The combination of formal music education, extensive stage experience and working with other musicians has shaped the way I approach both music and teaching today.

Experience / Qualifications

I became a professional musician at the age of 18, with drums as my main instrument. Since then, I have performed at festivals, clubs and venues all across the Netherlands and have toured extensively with several well-known Dutch artists. Alongside drums, I am also comfortable playing guitar, piano, bass guitar and singing, which gives me a broad understanding of music and helps me approach drumming from a wider musical perspective.

I started teaching drums at the age of 19 and have since taught more than 250 students. My students have ranged from complete beginners discovering the drums for the first time to experienced drummers who are already working professionally in the music industry.

This wide range of experience has taught me how different every student can be. It has also helped me develop a flexible teaching approach that focuses not only on technique, but also on musicality, confidence, creativity and the individual goals of each student.
