About Me

I am originally from the U.S.A. I have lived in Germany for over three years. I know the struggles of learning a new language. It can be difficult and frustrating, but I will try to make it as fun and interactive as possible! I am passionate about teaching, patient, empathetic, and enjoy motivating people to learn. I have experience teaching as a nature guide in a temperate rainforest in Alaska, an outdoor educator at a science camp in California, and an education assistant at a wolf sanctuary in Colorado. I am a native English speaker, have a Master of Science in Biology from the University of Bonn, and a TEFL certification.

Education

I have a Master of Science in Organismic Biology, Evolutionary Biology, and Paleobiology (OEP Biology) from the University of Bonn and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Central Missouri.

Spanish is one the world's most spoken languages, plus it can be used in many countries of Central and South America, so if you would like to travel to Mexico or Spain a few lessons of Spanish will give you a good beginner's level. However, based on the level of the student and upon his/her request, I will customize the course and materials to address intermediate and advance Spanish lessons.

Language learning happens through communication, so I will pick you up where you stand. Even basic vocabulary, we will learn first through speaking activities. Fürthmore, we start reading and as well as listening activities.

If you need more explanation or support understanding grammatical structures I can explain and make sure you understand it. With life examples you will get why the British language is so complex sometimes.

The lesson lasts 60 minutes. We work with the school books for the pupils, and together with the adults we decide on the best book depending on their level and interests. For exam preparation we also decide together and during the lessons we do various activities such as reading, writing, listening and reading comprehension, the learning process is all carried out together, we learn the grammar, practice it through exercises, speaking and text production, usually done as housework .
