About Me

I am a 38 year old Italian bassist and double bassist. I have been working full time in music for 15 years, both in teaching and in live music.

Over the years, I have developed a teaching method focused on listening to the student, with the aim of making him an awakened musician. Keeping in mind the role of the bass in modern music, I not only teach the technique of the instrument but also provide notions of theory, harmony, music theory, analysis of different styles, improvisation and ear training.

Education

Between 2006 and 2009 I studied bass and double bass at the CEMM jazz music school (Milan).

In 2010 I obtained a Master's degree in Philosophy with high honors at the University of Milan, also passing exams in the field of music (musical semiotics and philosophy of music).

In 2010, I attended the "Round about dances" masterclass held by maestro Gianluigi Trovesi.

In 2010 and 2011 I attended the “Nuoro jazz” seminars directed by Paolo Fresu.

In 2011, I took private lessons with Kaveh Rastegar (John Legend, Kneebody), a Grammy-nominated American bassist.

Experience / Qualifications

At the beginning of the 2000s, I started working in the rock field with the group "Addicted", with which I won the contest "Emergenza" as the best emerging band from Northern Italy ( 2004) and played in international festivals: Taubertal Festival (Germany) and Heineken Jammin' Festival (Italy).

In 2006, I started to take an interest in jazz and Afro-American music by playing the double bass in different ensembles; I participated in local festivals and I played at the prestigious Blue Note in Milan.

From 2012 to 2016 I played in "1st Class Passengers", a funk rock band under the English label Animal Farm, with which I toured Italy and England. In 2014 our single "The great western railway" was in radio rotation on Virgin Radio Italy.

In the same years, I worked with theater companies and with a music therapy project.

From 2016 I started playing in "Vipers", a Queen cover band led by Giuseppe Maggioni (finalist of The Voice of Italy 2014), with which I did up to 100 dates a year in all over Europe (140 in 2019), arriving to play in festivals such as the Graspop Metal Festival (Belgium), Bospop and Paaspop (the Netherlands).

In the educational field, I started my activity in 2011, giving bass and group workshop lessons in various schools in the Bergamo area, with students of all levels and ages (Accademia centro studi musicali , Scuola Mousikè, Associazione musicale Tassis, Reduzzi musica, Associazione musicale di Nembro).

In 2020, during confinement, I started my online teaching activity teaching bass to students of different nationalities in Italian, French and English. In the same year, for educational purposes, I opened a YouTube channel with covers and tutorials.

While creating a repertoire, we will work the ear, rhythm, technique.
I focus on practice, improvisation, and the relationship between you and your instrument in order to have fun on your bass.

Okay, but what are we doing?

The basics:

- the silence
- harmony (scales, chords, intervals)
- rhythm (binary, ternary, swing, shuffle)
- the sound (technique, nuance)
- the coding of the English chords (A = la, E- = E minor, etc.)

I started bass more than ten years ago, I first discovered the instrument alone (self-taught training).
I later played in several Rock formations. Rock I was interested in Funk (style in which the bass plays a key role). I then became more and more interested in improvisation and therefore Jazz music. I took two years of classes at the Conservatoire du 9ème arrondissement in Paris before joining the IMEP (formerly American School of Modern Music).
