About Me
Dannong Wu (1993*) was born in Urumqi, Xinjiang in China and grew up in Shantou, Guangdong. He received his first accordion lessons at the age of 6. At the age of 20, he switched from the button accordion to the button accordion and began a bachelor's degree at the music academy in Tianjin. During his first year of study, he won several competitions and national scholarships and quickly managed to establish himself in the Chinese accordion scene.
In 2020, Dannong Wu completed his master's degree with distinction at the University of Music in Freiburg under Prof. Teodoro Anzellotti.
Since then, he has continued his education at the Bern University of the Arts, specializing in early music. He was the first accordionist and only musician on a modern instrument to attend the Schola Cantorum in Basel, where he studied with the harpsichordist Prof. Francesco Corti. Dannong Wu also regularly attends master classes in the field of early music (including those given by Andreas Staier and Jean Rondeau) and looks for artistic inspiration and challenges for himself and his instrument.
In his concert activities, Dannong Wu is constantly breaking new and unknown ground and is making a name for himself as a young, uninhibited accordionist.
